One reader (under the article) made a great comment-why haven't they taken lie detector tests?

Lie detectors read heart rate. If you can keep calm and are an exceptional lier ... well you can pass the Lie detector test. I remember when I was in high school I was chosen to go to a police conference and when I went they hooked me up to it. I lied and it said I never lol ... sneaky Gene. All I did was control my heart rate. But I was only asked something insignificant ... I'm sure if I was being tested for a murder it would be more difficult. But some people are crazy anough to pass it lol. But not everyone knows that.

But like you said Glory ... I hope they had nothing to do with it.

I don't have the faith that they could control their heart rates. And if you were accused of killing your child, wouldn't you try every which way to prove your innocence? I know I would.

Very true. I don't know, I just had a feeling at the very beginning that something wasn't right with the story. So, I have my doubts to their innocence. It's very sad.

I thiink alot of people have had their doubts about the parents...It was even bought up that perhaps they had given her some mild sedative so that she would sleep and not bother them, and it went wrong...If they are innocent then it has to be heartbreaking to have these sightings and have hope....Leaving any child alone, under any circumstances, but especially for your own benefit makes me sick....And if they are guilty, then they should burn in hell...

well, something just doesn't add up.

Their spokesperson said they volunteered when it was mentioned and that they'd happily take one. But as they're insubmissible in the UK courts, no one has pursued this.

I would still do it because it is in some people's minds a reliable test and if they want support, it might lessen their guilt in some people's eyes.

What about Portugese Courts? as i assume they would be prosecuted in Portugal if there were any charges bought against them.

Yeah, I agree. But I also think that we live in a world saturated with Maury and Jeremy Kyle and Eastenders and I think many people have a preconcieved idea on how they think you should react in that situation, but you really can never say how you'd react until you're there yourself.

I think Kate looks shattered, I really do. I might be wrong (and often am), but she looks in pain to me. She's not throwing herself around hysterical in public like you'd see in a soap. As for him, hmmmm - I don't think they've done this though.

I don't know about that - I know the Portugese Police Chief in charge of the operation has been fired today.

There seems to be a lot of mud slinging between the British and Portugese police - I just wish they'd work together. I think it was 3 months for a blood sniffer dog to be bought over from the UK and into the flat, that's just insane.
