so I was out to dinner with my family last night, and my stepdad and my sister were talking about this show they saw on the history channel that they had both seen. And they said it outlines a UFO sighting where the entire city basically (near Pittsburgh they think) sees a UFO that's over a mile long. But they said there were hundreds of witnesses, with some extremely credible sources involved. Has anyone ever seen it? And if so, do you know the name of the show? I'd like to see it. grin2.gif

I believe you may be thinking of the Phoenix Lights.

May I suggest, while UFOs and the paranormal seem sexy, get yourself a grounding in science first before going down this road. A healthy dose of skepticism and critical-thinking will help you a great deal along the way, not just in the study of the paranormal, but in your day-to-day life. A Demon-Haunted World by Carl Sagan is a great place to start.

I don't understand why Carl Sagan would have a book debunking UFOs. Isn't he the one that used mathematical equations to prove that in the state of the universe now, there have to be (mathematically) 13 planets exactly like Earth with beings exactly like humans at the exact stage of development we're at now?

Being skeptical of UFOs being alien craft and believing life exists on other planets are not mutually exclusive ideas.

I could not agree more.

keeping it real prevents people from portraying you as a card carrying tinfoil hat wearing nut.
