JACKSONVILLE, Fla.

Jacksonville authorities say a mother pulled out a gun at a school bus stop because her son was being bullied. The police report says 40-year-old Johanna Briggs pointed the gun at other students getting off the bus and said "Does anyone have something to say?"

Her son was being bullied on the school bus and authorities say she wanted to put an end to it.

Briggs is charged with improper exhibition of a firearm, a misdemeanor.

What gets me is that she was only charged with improper exhibition of a firearm...It seemed more like a threat to the students to me...

I know that's a horrible story, but... cool mom!

if she had talked to the bus driver &/or the school about the problem and nobody would fix the problem - oh well. sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands. i'm not saying that pulling a gun on some kids was right, but if your child is being bullied by a gang of bad kids or older & bigger kids, eventually, someone has to put an end to it.

As much as I don't want to agree with any violence or intended violence, I understand IF the mom was at the end of her rope. There is just way too much bullying going on and too many times kids get a hold of weapons and do silly things with them, either to themselves or to their aggressors.

True! And though i may not have done it quite that way, i can understand the mothers frustration and desire to protect her child! And concidering all the violent crap that so many young offenders get away with, i,m actually surprised that more people havn,t taken the law into their own hands and taken a few of the more violent ones right out of the picture! When the law won,t do anything thats when normally good citizens feel the need to do some old fashioned house cleaning! So to speak!

What should have been done was that she should have told school officers of the problems her son was having on the bus "They dont take to kindly to bullieing"..............Still I feel she had to do what she had to do to protect her son.bet no one will mess with that kid in school.
