I has costed me a long search but finally I found it on the WWW, the real Patterson footage! I am going to place it on my site, when that happens I'll post again.  :D

We can discuss wether it is real or not, with the real footage, so not with images and animations of GIF files.

Now let's hope they don't sew me  :s3  :P

Okay. I bite. What is the Patterson footage? This is one of those things I should know, right?

The Patterson footage is the most famous and controvercial footage of Bigfoot there is. Filmed by Roger Patterson and Robert Gimlin in 1967 somewhere around the California-Oregon region of the U.S.

Not a real bright idea, Odin. The rightful owners to the copyright may not sue you, but they could certainly demand that the ISP that hosts your web site take your site offline (most ISP's have strict rules about copyright infringement, anyway, as they could also be held responsible). Stop and think a moment, why is it that the most popular 'bigfoot' video ever taken is almost impossible to find on the internet? Because the law firm given the responsibility of handling copyright violations and infringements of this video is doing its job effectively. Do you really want to take the chance?  :-/

http://www.xproject.net/archives/cryptozoology/bf_filmhoax.html this article says something about the Patterson footage being fake.

I think it's fake, but I do not think that there are no such beasts

Ok, I decided to put it online with advise of SaRuMaN, Mentalcase and a bit of Daz :s04.

go to Video Database and to Bigfoot. Then you'll see it.

[blue]Of course, Odin, your own webpage has a link to this one, and this one contains your proposed ideas and train of thought.... just in case you hadn't realised.

As for the Patterson film footage, I have to say that I'm more inclined to say that it's real. The way the thing walks and the fur and the whole ambience of the footage makes me think it's probably genuine. They had found footprints there before the film.

I know that there is debate about how trustworth they guys who took the film are, but still.

As for people who say that it looks like a man in a monkey suit, well, I can't dispute that. It's almost impossible not to believe what you want to believe.

I'm more of a 7/10 in favour of 'real' footage.

(Holds head down in anticipation of a barrage of debunking.) :s9

The Patterson footage is an extremely interesting piece of film, and I keep finding myself changing my mind regarding it's validity.

An interesting article I read recently, told of a researcher that went back to the Creek a couple of days after the footage was taken, and filmed himself retracing the creatures steps.

By comparing the two films, it was shown that the 6 foot man was the same height as the bigfoot. The footprints that were found, were very heavily indented, and could have only been made by a creature ten times heavier than the man, despite the two of them being the same size.

It is convenient to say that it looks just like a man in an ape-suit, but then, so would bigfoot.

Either way, it's a really good piece of footage, and I would congratulate the men who took it, even if it is just a clever hoax.

Unless Patterson actually admits to the footage being a hoax, we probably won't know for sure one way or the other.

The patterson footage is the ideal movie trailer, long enough to get your interest and just short enough to stop you from seeing too much.

SaRuMaN,

That could be a problem, Patterson admitting it that it was all a hoax, he is dead for years. Died somewhere in the 70's. But the problems with things like these are that we have no example of what it really looks like, nothing to compare with...

Odin,

Ah, I didn't know Patterson was dead. I doubt anyone would be able to get much of a confession out of him now.  ;D

Is Bob Gimlin still alive ? I think I saw him being interviewed by phone on X-Creatures a few years back, where he refused to admit that the footage was hoaxed. He did seem rather uncertain of some of the details, but then it was a very long time ago.

To find something to compare Bigfoot with, we need to look into the past. There is conclusive evidence of large 8 foot tall humanoid ape creatures a few thousand years ago, that would have lived alongside humans. I believe one such creature was "Gigantopethicus".

I can imagine that if the Bigfoot does exist, it would closely resemble something like that.

I would like a moment to apolgize for my previous statement, something to the effect of "What is the Patterson footage?" I was rather tired at the time, and the moment I clicked, I realized exactlly what it was, and how rather dim it was to ask what it was. (Pardon me sir? Have you ever heard of this Jesus fellow?) I throw myself unto the pardon of the boards.
