Matthew...«1» BALTIMORE -- The father of a Marine killed in Iraq took the stand in his invasion of privacy suit against a fundamentalist church that pickets soldiers' funerals, saying protesters carrying signs at his son's burial made him sick to his stomach.

Albert Snyder said Wednesday he had hoped for a private funeral for his son, Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder.

"They turned this funeral into a media circus and they wanted to hurt my family," Snyder testified. "They wanted their message heard and they didn't care who they stepped over. My son should have been buried with dignity, not with a bunch of clowns outside."

What kind of people would do that at someones funeral?? Especially with those kind of signs??
I believe in the freedom of speech, but some people abuse it and push it to its limits.
My heart goes out to that poor family that lost their son, and had to put up with this amount of hate at his funeral.

This makes me sick also. Those protesters may think they have a good cause but all they are really doing is hurting the family and friends left behind.

Free speech is all very well, but I think this is one instance, where, protesters should be moved on and not allowed in the vicinity of the funeral.

I can imagine how I would feel if I were attending such a funeral no.gif

mad.gif This group has some real problems. AND SOMEBODY ONE DAY IS GOING TO FIX THEIR PROBLEM. The hate they have for others that are not like them is going to be their own doom.

Church members said they are motivated by the fear of God and their need to warn America about its moral decay, rather than a desire to hurt anyone.

Moral decay? These "church members" are the poster children of moral decay.

I have to agree. People are abusing it. I really do.

I seriously hate them & what they believe. I saw a report about a local soldier who died. And they showed up.

I bled for the people to give that right!!!!!!!!! I really ticks me off. That they can disgrace a fallen soldier and their family. Just who in the Hell do they think they are.

To think they do this in God's name? I think they are cowards, using free speech to spread this filth. I can't even comprehend.

If I ever have to attend the funeral of a soldier, sailor, airman or marine I'll bring a few containers of pepper spray.
Go ahead. Charge me with battery for hosing down such protesters! I'd wear the charge proudly!
If they insist on being rude, inconsiderate and malicious --- I can be too!
God save me from the self-righteous indignation of your followers!
