The future for our descendants isn't all long life, perfect bodies and chiselled features, however.

While humans will reach their peak in 1000 years' time, 10,000 years later our reliance on technology will have begun to dramatically change our appearance. Here is my theory now, inspired by this one of course. For every scientist with an 'intelligent' theory, there is one to counter-part him (to make that first scientist's theory sound even more intelligent) and it all fits into the concept of duality. Tbh, this human splitting (I think I said this when it was last posted, sometime last year I think) For humans to split into two distinct races, the 'elite' would have to be cut off from the 'lower' humans, for quite some time. For this evolutionary change to happen, as would both races would need different environments also. Not hard to imagine this, and it could happen. With our impending ability to manipulate the human genome, I doubt if anything will be left to sexual selection/evolution...you can already choose the sex of your baby...watch this space for selecting physicial build and mental abilities - it will be coming soon! The article didnt take in count a lot of factors already mentionated by other posters:

Genetic Manipulation
lack of Time
Technological improvement of the body (Cyborg)
Posible expansion of the humanity to the stars
etc etc etc...

There's far too many unknown variables and random chance to predict that far into the future. I don't really buy this article at all. It's pure speculation.

His description of the female form is based on modern ideals. However, it does occur to me that what we view as "beautiful" today, hasn't always been so. Consider the terms "rubinesque" and "twiggy", both considered the ideals of beauty in their time.

It sounds to me like the "scientist" is simply trying to justify his adolescent fantasies There are any number of ways that mankind might evolve, or if you prefer, adapt, to changing environments and socio-economic conditions. Then there are those who believe that humanity will undergo an "evolution of consciousness", transcending the need for a material body. There is simply no way to know what we will be like in the future.

My word, I just don't know what to make of all this.
1. While there might be something to the "like marries like" I've seen enough odd couples to know it is NOT going to drive the gene pool in any substantial manner.
2. There's enough plastic surgery tomfoolery to keep attractive feature selection from being the driving force behind any changes to our gene pool.
3. Medical science: diseases that were crippling and took people out of the gene pool aren't any longer, and so those deleterious genes will still keep cropping up. (ex: my husband's problem with fragile retinas.)
4. "designer babies" I don't know about the rest of you, but I couldn't afford it even if I was barbaric enough to do this to my child!

The major difference between the humans that were before us, and ourselves, is body hair, not to mention hidous birth defects called uglyness/through genetics. The mark of the beast is what is called nature. Even in most of the religious, and other interpitations, the final thyme of good and evil are conflicts with the monsters that come from nature, which is the theme for unnatral development in most of the other cults to, which are depicted as being in other places with a variety of discriptions to name them. While our own science discovered that starting with microbes, everything in nature is designed to devour itself.

I don't use religious terminology myself, but in all the others, whatever the terminology, and expression of belief, it comes down to mind/memories of people, and places/events that many people here experiance through them, yet have not in the here and now. And the destructive beliefs that go with them, whether expressed as peaceful or not, we experiance here.

Many theory's as to the duality of thing's have been expressed, yet the beginning of that duality is what is expressed again through nature/the difference's we see in ourselves from it. Yet many, even if they can't find expression for it here, know that being human goes beyond peeing and pooping like animals. As expressed in thing's like propacy's taken out of context, because of current day prej. and control techniques.
