An 18-year-old woman escaped from a German prison by hiding in the suitcase of another inmate when she was released.

Steffi Krause escaped when her 19-year-old accomplice was released from the youth prison in Neustadt am Ruebenberge.

The prison wardens only noticed later in the evening when the other girl was not in her cell.

The only thing the wardens noticed during the 19-year-old's official leaving check from the prison was "that the suitcase was unusually heavy".

Thinking about it though, is it normal to have a suitcase to take out all your belongings after being inside? Would there normally be enough to fill one?

it could have been a minimum security prison, they have a ton of personal belongings in those, especially the women, clothes and such.

The biggest question for me is: Why didn't the security guards check the suitcase?! Also, why did they even leave her alone with it? Why wasn't someone keeping an eye on her while she was packing up her stuff? This makes no sense to me.....

maybe she hadbeen good at prison, and guards trusted her.. alot..

Maybe she gave them a couple of pouches of snout on the sly to not check her case
