His coat is a mosaic, the colors flow together as if there was a warm summer breeze.
The coat is as warm as a summer day.

When it's worn in the snow, sleet and rain, it's as if they were sitting in front of a fire.
When they run they are camouflaged like a chameleon.

His coat is a memory of sadness, the days he was fighting for strangers.
The badges are a symbol of bravery and courage.

When viewing one in his coat you'd see a hero.
When viewing themselves they would see a person doing their job.

Not taking credit for a day of fame, but to help save innocent ones.
They are like the stars in the midnight sky, shinning bright for others to see and to protect as if they were guardian angels.

Dedicated to all the soldiers overseas;
my friends, family and the known strangers!

Thank you for all you do!

Spirit-

Oh my honey that was beautiful. Thank you for the wonderful read. It also made me think of the firefighter that the NY Mayor would not pronouce a "Hero" for what he did (search and rescue) during the World Trade Center bombings recovery. I saw that in the news yesterday and just cringed.

There are so many men and women out there in uniform (military, police, firefighters) that put their lives on the line to save and help other's everyday. I wish there was a way to show appreciation (outside of my annual donation to my local units).

I did head up a community serve project with some young children. We sent little care packages (intended for military who typically do not receive mail). The kids had a blast and I felt like it was a small gesture. I really need to do another service project soon! The kids loved it, they had fun and colored pictures; wrote cute notes; I packed essentials like soap and toothpaste and so forth... all the while talking about how they are protecting us and trying to make them understand what a commitment they have made... OH I JUST LOVE what you've written here.

I say you mass produce and include in any care packages that go out!!!! What a treat that would be original.gif.

Take care sweet one original.gif Jody

QUOTE
The Sentinels Creed

My dedication to this sacred duty is total and wholehearted.
In the responsibility bestowed on me never will I falter.
And with dignity and perseverance my standard will remain perfection.
Through the years of diligence and praise and the discomfort of the elements,
I will walk my tour in humble reverence to the best of my ability.
It is he who commands the respect I protect.
His bravery that made us so proud.
Surrounded by well meaning crowds by day alone in the thoughtful peace of night,
this soldier will in honored glory rest under my eternal vigilance
