I don't usually "see" things, but this is one time I did. I was trying to fall asleep and my girlfriend at the time was already sleeping. At her side of the bed I saw this hooded being, the hood (or I guess it was a cloak with a hood) was brown in colour. I didn't see it's face or anything, and it didn't really do much it was basically just standing there. I lay there perplexed, but I fell asleep after that. Maybe it was a dream, or maybe I saw something. Anyway, what do you guys think?

ive heard of people seeing hooded dark figures running around their rooms when they are trying to get asleep. theres some kind of name for it....has something to do with sleep paralysis, you see something like a grim reaper strolling towards you but you cant move. if you were able to fall back asleep afterwards i would think that it was something like that, if it happened when you were totally awake you probably wouldnt sleep at all that night. O_o mind does funny things when its shutting down for the night

About a year ago I had some kind of hooded thing in my room (I posted it somewhere in here),it was quite tall but I couldn't make out a face it just seemed dark under the hood, anyway having read a lot on this site and others over the last year a shadowperson best fits the bill IMO.
I wasn't scared either but my wife was between me and it so when it moved forward I started kicking out at it, just to warn it away from my wife really, and recall tangible contact. My wife woke up (as the odd kick was coming back down on her) and it disappeared. She is as certain as I was that I was awake when she woke up as she says I was sitting up and spoke to her the second her eyes opened. Previous to this happening I had seen a number of little black (labrador sized) thing scuttling across the room through the corner of my eye, and it was always the same time of night (00:55) and everytime I jumped out of bed and turned the light on to find nothing there.

Wow that's fascinating. You actually felt it eh? I don't live anywhere near there now, so if it's still going there I suppose someone else may be dealing with it. Most people claim a feeling of dread when dealing with shadow people though, so I wonder why we didn't feel that way? The smaller things definitely sound like shadow people and something like that would freak _me_ out. Then again I seem to be a very neurotic person. When I was a kid I thought I saw an alien, and sleeping was difficult for many years after that. Perhaps I should start a thread on that story, and the couple of UFO sightings I had.

Yeh I suppose there was a 'weird feeling' in the room but my first thought was to protect my wife if I had been on my own I would have been more scared I think. Those labrdador sized things seemed to stop coming once I accepted them and stopped being bothered or jumping up and turning the light on.

Actually, since no one else is going to post a serious answer for you, I shall. The hooded entity phenomenon is quite common. Many people have seen these and it is one of the most seen things of all phenomenon. My sister and her kids actually saw one walking along a lonely country road in Kansas in the middle of the night during a snowstorm! The temperature was below freezing and in the middle of nowhere, they came upon a hooded entity walking along the road miles from any town or farm! They could not make out a face, and were quite freaked over the scene.
Many stories of hooded beings are all over the net if you google it, you will see! about.paranormal dot com has lots of stories of them in their true stories files. The most common sightings are next to your bed late at night. Many people think that they are alien in nature, but who is to really say? Just to let you know that you are not alone in seeing hooded entities.

i agree with the sleep paralise i get that a lot! i was having an afternoon nap one time and through the gap into the hall way i saw a hooded figure carrying a small child at first i thought it was my brother in law and nephew coming to say hello. but when they got closer i was in for a suprise, i think normal we arnt suppose to see them, but if we do see them.. they notice us seing them and then well.. kinda attack us. so any way it saw me looking at it then it came running upto me and all of a sudden i couldnt move and was paralized to the lounge i was resting in and it was jumped from my feet and landing near my head laughing shrilly and totally mental laughter of a mad man then someone else in the house who was awake just strolled past and the hooded poltergiest ran through the window and was gone
weirddd its true. im kinda use to these things happening to me so im more open and tell it how it is!

2 nights ago I awoke in the paralys and could swear i saw the hooded entity, i was scared sh*tless and started screaming go away go away except i couldnt actualy project it from my mouth but i could hear my screaming loud and clear in my own head, then he was gone and it seemed like there was a dark cloud fading off into the early morning sky.
It was my first experience of the actualy silent hooded type. iv had other types that seemed less malice.

The hooded figure is a lot seen lately. You can call it a "shadow being", or "shadow person". I believe they are negative entities who have never been human, so they arent spirits or ghosts. There was a great C2C show about shadow beings with an "expert" on the matter. Do a google search.

Also, it's good to check for any possible reflections that may have been cast in the area of what you saw. Windows, reflecting moonlight into mirrors, and "voila" instant hooded figure. I would also look at anything that may have helped creating the "hooded" reflection; like something on your dresser. Not all sightings are paranormal. It's best to rule out the obvious first. Just my opinion.

...No? Oh well. Never mind.

(But I actually even happen to own a hooded brown cloak!)
Seriously speaking though, I remember having once, many years ago, woken up in the middle of the night to find "someone" standing next to my bed. There wasn't that much light, so all I could make out was a tall, dark figure just standing there, towering over me... At first I thought it might be my mother, checking on me, and I think I even asked "Mum?" but there was no answer and I got scared, and did what all kids of about 10 do when they get really scared... hid under my blanket, that is. (It always helps...

) Anyway, in the morning I asked my mother about it and she said she hadn't been in my room during the night. Back then I hadn't ever even heard of "shadow people" or anything of the kind, and I finally concluded that I must have been dreaming really - which I probably was. The mind will play tricks on you when you're half asleep.
But it did scare me back then!

out of fear i looked at the door and screamed for mom 6 times before barely actually making noise

the reason it stuck is i sat up straight screamed mouth wide and almost passed out trying make noise
