A newly wed couple from my area made the choice to let the wife die this week, you see she had just given birth to twins(there first children) Both parents are only 24 yrs old, and the wife of this story suffered bleeding problems after the birth, and as both parents are jehovahs witnesses this is the way it as to be?

This is already in another post.

But adults should have the right to refuse any medical treatment.

I think she is wrong but it is her belief ,I find it very difficult to accept the belief on blood transfusions taught by JWs ,of all the different branches of Christianity only the JWs interpret the Bible in that manner ,no one else as far I am aware reads it the same way ,So somebody is wrong ,Either they are right and everybody else is wrong or vice versa

It was her belief and within her religion not to accept blood. However, I find it incredibly sad that her newborn children will never know their mother sad.gif

My point exactly, no faith is or should be stronger than the children you bring into this world...should it?

Maybe what it is is that the parent was selfish. She was so concerned about going to heaven that she disregarded her babies and the need they have for a living breathing mother.

if it's an adult making the decision for themselfs to die what's the problem. it's not hurting you. if it was letting the newborn die then there is a big problem......but hell people think it's okay to despose of the baby while it's still in the womb so i don't know why they would care about it when it's out.....isn't it the mother decision anyway weather the baby lifes or dies?

that being said though it's the adults decision for themselfs to die i still thinks it's a bad one since they have children to take care of.

Quite possible.

It shouldn't, but here's an ACTUAL CONVERSATION that my atheist friend had with his catholic mother:
Him - "Mom, do you love Jesus more than you love our family?"
Her - "Yes."

Yea only idiots refuse real help to save lives...God put us on earth to grow and minds became more advanced..thats why we have doctors and science...it comes in bloody handy (no pun intended) but its SICK to let your loved one DIE because of your belief

Very true...I can't imagine not wanting to be with my kid all because of a blind faith in God....absurd and very stupid

NO...it should not...for your kids are REAL...you can see them..feel them and the love is real....as for faith...its all in your head whether you want to see it as real...but reality should come 1st...

Interesting point. In the Bible, God commands Abraham to kill his own son and he is in the processing of knifing the youth when an angel drops by and relates the message that God was just testing Abraham.

So, apparently, the God of the bible requires your faith to be stronger than your love of your own children.

Ok, I'm a Christian and I love and believe in God, but that there is F'ed up.
But what can you expect from a God that would not allow humanity into his presence without first torturing HIS son to death.

I don't know, I'm a believer in the overall message of Christ, but some stuff like that really makes me think that the writers of the bible MUST have missed stuff because it's sometimes absurd and twisted.

I think that is how all abrahamic faiths are. God first, family second, yourself last.

Agreed beckys_mom, if the all seeing knows everything he/she as no real need to test anyone, ergo all who understand this little fact and believe in a faith should not take this religous conduct code as read.

Who was that mother looking out for, who refused medical treatment and allowed herself to die, leaving her new born babies in the world motherless?
She was looking out for number one and number one's spot in heaven, I'd imagine.

I absoluely agree....two babies/children lost their mother....for no good reason.

I believe in life after death.....and I think she will deeply regret what happened.
