To be fair and balanced I am going to ask some of the same questions to the Non religious believers as my other poll.

There you go. I was brought up in a family that attended Baptist churches somewhat regularly, and up until I was in my middle teens. My parents weren't extreme or anything, but even as a child I started questioning things I heard in Sunday School and stuff.

My father was a Catholic as a child, and one day I voiced my doubts to him, and he told me that he didn't really buy into all of it either, but he went because it was nice and it made my mother happy.

I guess I get my sense of 'faith' from him. original.gif

Ack, I didn't see this Thread Irish, I just posted on your other Thread re same subject, sorry. I didn't vote in it (I was unable to vote in part 2) so the votes weren't changed.

As I said in the other Thread, I was not force-fed religion and I haven't done so with my own kids, I guess I just let them choose their own paths.

I think I went to Church once when I was six with a woman who was a neighbour, but I hated the cup of tea after the two hour long service and refused to go back after that day, lest I would have to drink that horrible unsweetened tea again laugh.gif

We are closer than you think Zandore, My mother was Catholic and my father was Protestant, ibid an agnostic one. Being raised in Northern Ireland it was you might say double jeopardy. blink.gif

Raised in a catholic family and was forced to go to christian youth groups, church, sunday school and bible camps, and I was a catholic. I was also raised in a catholic school were they taught us religion as if it were a fact. Eventually, I got interested in science when I was about 8 and started reading biology books when I was 11. From there my faith just slipped.

Interesting, good to hear where people came from religiously

In my case I was born in a Lutheran Family attended church until my mid teens were I was "confirmed", I left home and searched further.
Became part of the Baha'i faith by my late 20's.

My parents were shocked at first, but since nobody had taken me away to a brainwashing farm like they thought would happen, I guess they are finally settled, at least they don't bring it up anymore wink2.gif

Baha'i was something I looked at for a while but it wasn't quite right for me. I'm actually surprised more people in the Western world aren't involved in Baha'i. It's a sensible belief system from my point of view. But, everyone's point of view is different.

I too looked into the Baha'i faith before becoming a Christian. I found it to be a jelly role off all the good things from the major religions minus anything that could be considered controversial, in a sense it was new age before new age.

My parents were fairly religious, and although I went to a public school many of the teachers were Christian and tried to feed that to us from a young age. I never really believed in a god, it always just seemed ridiculous to me. I thought it was just one of those things people said but didn't really believe.

I only found at that people actually believed in a god when I was around 12 years old...I was shocked.

I was raised as a Catholic, forced to go to church every sunday. My dad wasn't too "faithful" and he infected me with some rationalistic ideals. I fully discarded my catholic beleifs at around 12, becoming an atheist. I applied my rationalistic beleifs to reality, deciding that we all only had an illusion of free will, and that all our decisions were pre-determined by genetics, experience, and the moment. I was only able to handle this clockwork beleif of reality for so long, and i embraced Discordianistic ideals 3 years later. I currently hold those beleifs.

Raised Jewish , Untill I ran away at 12. The miracles and Love I saw on My own at such a Young age did not Jibe with the judgement and predjiduice I saw coming from any of the Organised religions.

I did check them out too . I would say before going in to any church or Temple, " God I'm just checking this one out . I'll Be right Back"

Iam now41, and Know Gods unconditional love and spirit has been with me allways through Good and bad.
Maybe thats why I thank Father and Mother (Mother's The Holy Spirit) even after Unberable times.

So my conversion was not to a Religion, but to a personal unconditional love of God the father and Mother of My spirit. all the hard lessons I have recieved, I asked for before my spirit inhabited this Body. And when I say Thy will be done Father, He says his will is my will and The lesons begin.

From the start I attended a southern baptist church every sunday,Sunday school then one or both morning and evening services then again every wednesday service. I went to private christian schools all my life. We had chapel atleast once a week. I attended christian bible day camp and summer camp. innocent.gif
I never believed things were the way they said it was. It always seemed like the god they were trying to make me follow was not all loving and forgiving but a tyrant.
You have free will to do as you like, He loves you unconditionaly but you must worship him or burn in hell forever. notworthy.gif
They always taught that god knows and sees all, He knows the past, present and future, So that would mean that if he has this knowledge then we are predestined with no free will to burn in hell. devil.gif
I never understood why some are born to live the good life while others must starve to death covered in insects. unsure.gif
Another thing : you must accept Jesus in your heart as savior thats the only way to heaven. Then why do some get 20 yrs or less, others get 70 yrs some over a hundred. Does'nt seem right to me. blink.gif

I do believe in a greater power but not the one they tried to force feed me! tongue.gif

Man only believes Gods Love is bad , Our spirit is eternal, born of an eternal Father and Mother (God).

Do not let man's interpretation of God's love trick you in to thinking God only loves some unconditionally.

For The creator of our eternal spirit loves all created , we are the sons, and complete The trinity.
All one need do in order to put the power and love of the Father Son and Mother(Holy Spirit ), in to action , is Love God, wether one knows she is our eternal Mother or not, Just Love God unconditionally, as Our eternal parents love us.
This makes the tie that binds spirit to Mortal. even if one does not know the specifics Love is the grace we all expect of our eternal Parents and is all which Our parents want from us.
