Ziggy Stardust
Read the book? Seen the film? I'd like some opinions on this, I'm very interested..

yes, read the book and seen the film. A few years ago. The title was totally haunting me, so I just had to. I must say I expected something more - everyone was saying it's such a cult classics... I wasn't very impressed, but I liked it. The movie is visually beautiful. Alex was very cool, his outfits and black eyelashes on one eye - freaky, and great...
The true ending of the book isn't in the movie. In it Alex suddenly realizes he wants no more violence, but to marry and have kids... People often dislike this kind of ending (that's why it wasn't in the movie), because it seems unnatural and doesn't match the philosophy of the whole book. I, personally, love this "positive" ending. NOT because it's nice, but because it actually shows hopelessness(?), uselessness of the riot against the system - the silly things you used to despise gets you from the inside. It's not really a happyend, Alex's essence is defeated - but by itself, not by some Ludovico's technique. I think it's cool.
That was my opinion.

But the best thing I like about The Clockwork Orange stays the title

Too much hype led me to expect more. But then i often find that is the case with films.

I've read the book and seen the movie. They're both good. The book I find can be hard to read at first because of all the slang, it takes a while before you know what the heck he's talking about. I also found it focused more on the violence and how much of a deviant Alex really is. The movie, like justejust said, is really great to watch because it really is artistic. But that's Kubrick for you. original.gif

I have read the book and watched the movie (a good 20 times). As previously stated the slang makes the book a hard read but I enjoyed it.

I ♥ Alex.

To say it is a disturbing movie was, for me, putting it lightly.

I think I have seen it two and a half times (the half bit was the first time I saw it, I couldn't watch it all the way through laugh.gif )

The most disturbing bit for me was how the authorities all came round to supporting Alex in the end, forgetting the anguish and hurt he caused to all his victims.

What an out and out nutter, if he were a tiger in the same vein, loved going on killing sprees, he would have been shot on sight.

Clever film, totally psychological for the viewer. On a purely base level however, I would so loved to have smacked Alex right in the gob.

Atheist God
I've read the book and seen the movie.

Anywho both versions are great although the movie left out the last chapter of the book.

I've only seen the movie, and I thought it was alright. The violence was a little too much even for myself though, it seemed far too casual in the eyes of the protagonist Alex, something which was intentional, i'm sure.
