I rember when i was a kid in grade 3 there was this book called " Bigfoot: man , monster or myth" at my local school libary , it was pretty intresting and the thing i rember about it is that it had nice hand drawn pics and that it had the story of albert ostman and Jacko.

it was on june 30th 1884 that the story of Jacko began.

the book said somthing along the lines about " that railroad workers found some strange footprints in the snow and followed them , and in a bush beside the rail they found Jacko , who appeared to be a strange looking monkey and looked sick."

well they did the only sensible thing that men in 1884 would do , put him in a cage , nurse him back to health and try to use him to get money!!!!! grin2.gif

any way time went by and apparently he escaped or somthing and was never seen again.

any way after searching google i got this page

Jacko the Sasquatch kid

A Strange Creature Captured Above Yale —A British Columbia Gorilla
(Correspondence of the Colonist) YALE, B.C., July 3rd, 1882

In the immediate vicinity of No. 4 tunnel, situated some twenty miles above this village, are bluffs of rock which have hitherto been unsurmountable, but on Monday morning last were successfully scaled by Mr. Onderdonk's employees on the regular train from Lytton. Assisted by Mr. Costerton, the British Columbia Express Company's messenger, and a number of gentlemen from Lytton and points east of that place who, after considerable trouble and perilous climbing, succeeded in capturing a creature which may truly be called half man and half beast. "Jacko" as the creature has been called by his capturers, is something of the gorilla type standing four feet seven inches in height and weighing 127 pounds. He has long, black, strong hair and resembles a human being with one exception, his entire body, excepting his hands, (or paws) and feet are covered with glossy hair about an inch long. His fore arm is much longer than a man's fore arm, and he possesses extraordinary strength, as he will take hold of a stick and break it by wrenching or twisting it, which no man living could break in the same way.

anybody else heard about this , the picture in the book looked pretty non-human to me.

srry i couldnt find any pics ( dont search Jacko on google images!!!!! wacko.gif )

Aggh, there's another story of a human-looking chimp thing out there somewhere, and it's got pictures, not sure if it's the same one.

If it is, it's not a human, the people who've looked at say it's just a regular old ape, though I'd have been fooled looking at the pictures. Pretty amazing, really. Since most of the reading and stuff I do on cryptids is on this forum, the link is probably in here somewhere.

Ithink you are reffering to de loys ape. The problem with that picture is that the ape is claimed to be the same height as a human but the scale in the picture seems wrong. There is some debate about the actual size of the tee chest it is pictured sitting upon. I thik everyone can agree that the ape is real and may be a new species but the true size of the ape is debatable.
