The OP is "fact or fiction" and it appears that the Posters intent is to survey peoples beliefs as to whether they believe in demons or not. I, in fact, do. The purpose of the thread is not to gather evidence, as anyone can plainly see. And certainly not to incite another evidentiary debate. Your post is elementary and obviously meant to instigate, and really did not warrant a response. But it is 0205 hrs here, and I am bored.

If we are now going to discuss what demons actually are and what is their nature...I am going to have to put on some safety equipment first.

A little of both, I guess. The stereotypical idea of a demon being this sort of grotesque, horned creature with claws and fangs is fiction, I'd say. But demons, as in being malevolent, energy-based entities, that's something I'll believe in.

They're all around us. In the places we'd think they were likely be found, and in places we thought impossible to find them. They're the plague of mankind; our temptation, our trial-and sometimes our downfall. If you investigate the paranormal long enough - you will encounter these inhuman entities that we call the demonic.

As the story is told by the Judeo-Christian religion, God created the angels first. Of the angels
created none were higher than Lucifer. God created Lucifer in such perfection that he was all but
God. Not being content with his own being, however, Lucifer sought through envy what has not his. Lucifer sought to be God. He sought to negate the existence of God and rule heaven himself. A great battle ensued between the two, accompanied by an army of angels loyal to Lucifer. It was the Archangel Michael that defeated Lucifer at the final battle. God then banished Lucifer and his legion from Heaven where these fallen angels swore perpetual disobedience to God and his creation. And so, the hatred of mankind began.

Investigators would benefit from the realization that demonic entities are present not only in those possessed - but potentially in every new environment that they investigate. There's an attraction to certain environmental sites for which only the diabolic know the reasoning. However, from an objective standpoint we can attempt to see parallels between them. For example, examine a nursing home. To many investigators a site such as this could be home to a number of human entities who have not crossed over yet, or even family members looking for their Grandmother they had passed away before; however, this could also be home to some very evil entities.

Historical research of a site may be very valuable in such a case. If this home was a place where there existed patient abuse or mistreatment, housed some mentally ill patients, or even just was not a happy place for residents - the door to the demonic could have been opened. These creatures seek out human suffering and pain. Their goal is to weaken the human spirit with possession once the soul is weakened. They prey on fear. Therefore, you have to look a little deeper than whether the site was an area where ritualistic killings occurred, or a Ouija board was used. Invitations to evil come in many forms - deliberate and incidental-which can be tied to anything: a nursing home, school, home or even attached to a Raggedy Anne doll.

Every step taken by a paranormal investigator needs to be taken with care. Not every home is haunted, nor does every home or every other home have demonic activity. Yet it is out there, and not always in the places an investigator would expect. It's important to always look, listen, and feel for the signs of their presence in every investigation.

As you enter every circumstance of an investigation, be aware of your surroundings. It's important for the investigator to use every sense at their disposal. Smell is powerful; be alert for those that are foul. These are foulest smells that you perhaps have ever experienced, akin to that of flesh rotting - or perhaps even a strong sulfur odor that's there one moment but gone the next. Listen carefully. Sounds indicative of a demonic presence may be growls, hisses or even repetitive knocks in a succession of three-a specific mocking of the Holy Trinity. Look to the shadows. The demonic will often appear as shadows-shadows so dark they seem to absorb light themselves. Finally, feel. Feel your surroundings. These entities have the ability to make the happiest room in a home feel the most oppressive, a heavy feeling an investigator can almost feel hanging in the air around them. Their oppression can feel like walking through quicksand. Though these are some of the signs of a demonic presence, it may not mean the investigator is experiencing is demonic - but it does mean that it's time to bring in an investigator familiar with this type of haunting. Remember, these are intelligences as old as the earth itself. They have witnessed the coming of man, and his climb to the top of the food chain. They are cunning, and evil beyond human comprehension. Being creations of God, they were once beautiful in nature. And as angels can move seen and unseen among us, I suspect demons can too. They would have to play dumb to do so. Churches have been around thousands of years providing exorcisms and cleansing of evil spirits. Not only, it has seemed to have been a large belief in almost every culture from ancient societies to our modern world. Only now days, with our high tech manifest destiny tools of trade we boldly assume we know all and can explain all.

Life is too rich to explain. It's an answer that may be an eternal question. I believe demons are quite real. I was possessed by one in 2004. Of course I would be a skeptic if I were you as well. Who is going to believe some stranger. Especially on the internet. People like to be heard, whether they are truthful or full of non-sense. For me though, my experience was the scariest thing I have ever encountered. And I'm 100% convinced that I was not sleep walking. Basically my wife came home from work at 3 a.m. in the morning. Growling dogs surrounded our cedar cabin out in the country. She had a Bad feeling and got inside quick. Inside she heard more growling from our bedroom. She came in the room and saw me crouched in standing position on the bed. Eyes blacked and mouth dropped low. As she came closer (She thought I was sleep walking) tried to tell me to go back to sleep. This is when she said I jumped on her and starting wailing and shrieking and began strangling her. She slapped me and punched me several times. (It did absolutely NOTHING) The only thing that saved her was her desperation and cries for help. Somehow my deep soul heard her cry for help and I broke free of this possession, but it took several minutes to regain my own voice. When I First heard her crying for help, I could hear the Demonic Shrieking. It was terrifying. It was so wicked that my blood runs cold even thinking of it.

I finally gained myself back. As I tried to speak and say "It's Ok! It's me! It's me." My voice was not my own. It was really creepy. Low pitched and just freakishly spooky.

This to me was a Demonic Spirit. I like to remain skeptical myself of anything. It's easy to believe anything you hear sometimes and I prefer not to be so easily subjected to imagination. However this experience of mine was very real and it seems like I'm just one of many thousands who have had experiences like this. There has to be something to it.

I've never seen any evidence to suggest that there are evil invisible entities all around us. Humans are more evil than anything I can imagine. If you don't believe me talk to some holocaust survivors.

I'm with fylgja. I have never really believed in Demons. I don't even think I believe in Angels either. That's just my belief though, and I do not want to discount anybody else's belief or experiences. The way I see it, it's just maybe what I have experienced or not experienced as opposed to others and their experiences. I just do not believe in them on the basis that I have not experienced and have the belief that they could exist or be behind varyious situations I have noticed. I believe JustNormal is correct, that the one of the things about demons is that they never lived. I just, myself, cannot believe such a being exist. That's me, and I could be wrong, but that is how I feel and believe.

They say when you passover your spirit/personality doesn't change... So that murderer or evil person will stay evil... I guess demonic is how anyone interprets it themselves...

I also believe there are "Demons" out there, although I don't know how many there are. There are also spirits and ghosts and probably a myriad of other things that we don't understand. I am getting a handle on what is out there but the why is the hard bit. The Bible does say there are more things in heaven than in earth, it does make me wonder. Unfortunately what is incorporated into the bible is decided by mere men so I would guess we are missing the big picture. The religeous writings of most religions have been twisted by the corrupted needs of those who rule over us to suit thier agenda. Over thousands of years the truth of things of old are well hidden.

I have known about spirits since I was a child, so that is nothing new to me, but if anyone ever told me I would go thru that kind of haunting I would have rolled my eyes. So I guess its safe to say, there is good and evil on Earth and we witness them both in various ways. JN

well I never saw any evidence on anything paranormal either, not only demons, we had perhaps our own experiences, but on convincing evidence...nada!
If we should be slaves of the evidence and logic I doub we will have a forum about ghosts and hauntings. But never mind this is my opinion...im just not so naive to belive

I agree, but I am talking from my own personal experience (inexperience) with demons. I never personally experienced anything that convinced me they are there. Others may have, but I am one of those 'see it to believe it" typs.

Nope don't believe in them. I think the so-called demons where propogated by organized religion to keep their congregations in check and make sure they keep coming to church and pay their tithings. the Catholic Church is one of the richest organizations in the world and the mormom church is probably not far behind them.

Now that is not to say that there aren't nasty, mean spirits/ghosts out there, after all there are nasty, mean people and when they die they are not suddenly going to miraculously change their behavior.

Exactly. If someone never goes through pain in their life, would they ever know what pain truely feels like? No. It is something you need to experience for yourself in order to tell the tale.

As far as demons are concerned. I am not so close minded to say such things do not exist. I just need proof in order to believe. Only proof is to experience it first hand. Experience that teaches you have a better chance of getting struck by lightning and winning the lottery in the same day.

see, the thing about ddemons is this, they arent like psi powers pr something where you can just believe them based on what you think. The thought of a demon is like so unbelieveable you cant possibly imagine something like that could be real. after all fylgja did make a good point, as far as we know man is the most evil creature in this world. But, I have a wonderful experience I wish to share with you all since you're all being so friendly to eachother
Well, it all started one morning, I had gone to a spiritual church (I like to go every now and again). Well, I asked a woman to give me a reading. She said a few things (personal sorry lol) and then she said this. "Listen, I want you to carry this. Theres something about your aura that may attract demon attacks so be very careful." She handed me a silver cross. well, that night me and a friend wanted to do a little experiment, so we tried to connect our our minds (hehe didnt work though as far as I know). Anyways, we felt a tingly sensation so we stopped and went home. well on my way home I happen to hear something following me. I look back to see what it was and it looks like a very very large dog, like bigger than a great dane with thick black fur. so naturally I walk a little faster. Well, I look back and now theres 3 more. So im thinkin, "Well this is gonna end badly." Well a few more show up and thats when I start running home (I was about a block away from my house by now). Well the freakin wolf demons or w/e they were start chasing me. Luckily as I crossed the street a truck with they're high beams came driving by and almost hit me. he slammed the brakes and I looked around to see if they were still around. They werent so I ran home.
Now, naturally I had no idea what happened and I was like freaking out so I call up my friend AJ. I ask his sister if I could talk to him, but she said he wasnt there, he was in the ER. I asked her what happened and she told me the same thing he told her. "He said someone was in his room and that they punched him so hard he flew back into his dresser and had a concussion (I cant spell for crap, sorry). We had to send him to the ER cus he had 3rd degree burns on his chest and stomach. So, im frakin out so im like, ok, lets call Ben. So I call Ben and hes like, "Dude, Jared, you believe in demons right?" I hesitate to answer. "Yeah, why?" "Well, me and my mom were driving down I-79 and some big wolf dog thing started chasing us down the interstate! It was so fast it actually caught up and tore off our left bumper!" So I'm sitting there like paralized. My phone starts to beep cus theres someone on the otherline. Its Kenzie and Gayle, they were having a sleepover at gayles house. So I asked them, "Are you two ok? Have you seen anything strange tonight?" Gayle said, "Yeah we're fine, but howd you know? Theres a really really big dog thing outside our window growling." so I tell them to go sleep in the living room just in case. Well that morning I ask my mom to take me to the church. I walk up to the same woman, and she just smirked and said, "Did I not tell you to be careful???" she chuckled and said that her and her fellow spiritualists had taken care of it. she requested for her cross back so I returned it to her. so yeah, thats why I believe in demons.
