QUOTE(Mary Shelley)
Night waned upon this talk, and even the witching hour had gone by, before we retired to rest....My imagination, unbidden, possessed and guided me....I saw--with shut eyes, but acute mental vision,--I saw the pale student of unhallowed arts kneeling before the thing he had put together. I saw the hideous phantasm of a man stretched out, and then, on the working of some powerful engine, show signs of life, and stir with an uneasy, half vital motion. Frightful must it be; for supremely frightful would be the effect of any human endeavor to mock the stupendous mechanism of the Creator of the world.

The person who did most of the work I think is Friedrich Miescher who discovered it in 1869 though his pupil named it? It's a difficult question becasue so many people have had a hand in research of DNA.
I haven't time to look into the second question right now (but judging by the time period, my answer looks a bit unlikely?)
EDIT:
Ok at risk of getting my head bitten off for staying online too long I found that James Watson and Francis Crick discovered DNA's STRUCTURE. Is that the answer you mean? If so Rosalind Franklin did a fair bit of the work but she died 4 years before the other two were given the Nobel Prize.
