I have AVG free it worked fine till a few weeks ago it kept saying download unsuccessfull every time I tried to update it. I decided to go and download it again and try up dating it. When I got to the web sites they changed a few things. even tho it says its free you really have to sign up with one of there advertisers before getting the free software. thing is most of these you need a CC to join.

So I hope some ones gots a viable replacement for AVG out here.

free anti viruses arent that good, why do you think they're free?

Best thing is to buy one, not Norton though.

AVG is a good antivirus program. The free version offers the same virus definitions and removal methods as the paid version, paid just has other perks. Kapersky is pretty good too. Sounds like you may have goten sidetracked to a fake site though, Bigdog. Go here, click the link that says "AVG 7.5 Free for Windows".

I have never used AVG I must admit.

On my old computer I had Kaspersky. I have also used MacAfee - no problem with either of these, they have picked up trojans and viruses whilst I have been online and clicked on certain sites.

Whatever the case, I would never do without either anti-virus OR a firewall, too many lowlifes out there just waiting to fleece me laugh.gif
