Its happened twice on the freeway when were driving up to Hesperia, CA. Ill be looking out the window and not really think about anything when I look at the clock and realize that its been like an hour or more but i dont remember anything and it seems like only a couple seconds went by and i know i didnt go to sleep. Its kind of hard to explain, its like I look at the clock see what time it is then turn away, look out the window, look at the landscape and turn back to the clock and realize that an hour has passed, then i look out the window again confused and i see that where no longer where i was just looking?? This all happens in a matter a seconds its only happened twice its really strange cause i cant remember that last hour (the hour that went by in a matter of seconds). Is it possible that I blacked-out while being fully conscience? It feels like the last hour was just instantly erased from my mind and the last thing i can remember is the hour before the hour that was just erased?????? Has this happened to anyone else?

i have had that, i was lying in bed after waking up, i looked at my watch and i looked away then when i looked back at it (what seemed like 2 secs) it was 15mins ahead of what it was when i looked at it first. but i swear i didn't fall asleep at all.

I agree with Leah. Definitely get this checked out by a medical doctor, you appear to be blacking out (not actually passing out and fainting, but just going blank) and it appears to you as "lost time". You need to get things like epilepsy ruled out, it is very important.

i can tell you about short term memory loss....i have had bouts with...ah...what was i talking about?
seriously, i have to concentrate on what i am doing...if i break i can loose where i am at in most tasks....many times i drive and can not remember doing it later...it's like i remember where i was and zap here i am now with no recollection of how i got from there to here...i guess i do o k because i don't wreck...

Hello, I seek Wisdom.
Were you driving? If so, then that more or less guarantees that your short-term memory was working just fine. It is really short-term, of very low capacity and so "turns over" within seconds usually, but is adequate to allow safe operation of a car under gentle conditions.
The apparent hitch is that nothing progressed retrievably from short-term into the longer-term memory. This happens, even if it is disquieting. If this stretch of highway is familiar territory for you, then it is altogether likely that there was nothing in particular for you to remember, and so you didn't.
Please note that human beings are notoriously unreliable witnesses as to whether or not they have fallen asleep. However, if you were driving, and your car is still on the road an hour later, then you probably weren't asleep.
If you have any health concern, then by all means consult a physician.

Thanks for the replies guys, I doubt its anything serious but ill go in for a check up and no im not driving when this happens, thankfully! Its really wierd cause ill be looking at something like the grassy hills near the freeway and then all of a suddenly im look at huge buildings in an industrial city thats hours ahead of were we were like I instantly teleported? The best way i can describe is that my brain turns off and then on and all of a sudden Im miles away from were i remember being last and the last memory i have is before it turned off. I hope i explained myself in a way everyone can understand.

You were probably just abducted by aliens. Nothing to worry about. Though I would get your watched checked out just to be sure.

First and foremost, ALWAYS see a doctor/neurologist to rule out anything medical.
Gene Brown started a topic similar to this I believe called "dimension slips". I'll try to locate it for you.
Here's the thread. Start at post #15

I would ask whether you are getting enough sleep. The experiences you describe could be nothing more than your brain trying to use a cognitively unchallenging activity-driving-as an opportunity to make up for a long term sleep deficit. A dangerous situation, if so.
