Full Version: Symbols of Fallen Angels?

Hiya!

I'm doing concept art for a new video game, and when I got the original designs the fallen angels from the games had marks on their bodies. I asked the designer if they had any meaning, and I was told that "no, we just picked out random symbols from the Internet." I asked if I could revise the symbols into things that actually MEANT something, and I was given the go ahead.

So are there any symbols that would represent a fallen angel? I know there are symbols for specific fallen angels, but how about in general? I'd rather our characters not be walking around with "dumb smelly American" tattooed onto their backs...

Thanks!

If I remember rightly, in the movie "The Prophecy" a mark would appear on fallen angels' necks.

Perhaps you could google to see if you can get an image of it. It may be copyrighted though, so be careful.

Well, you could research what some actual seals of fallen angels are, I could check a few places for you. Also, you could do the oh so famous inverted pentagram, which has been come to be known with demonic forces, though it really has nothing to do with demons.

Edit: If you wanted them each to have individual symbols, you could check Ars Goetia and use some of the demon seals in there.

Well, I'm not 'in' to the whole Angel thing, but if I were to draw a fallen angel, I would put stubby marks on their back on the shoulder blades where their wings had been ripped off because they wouldn't be allowed to keep their wings any more.

A bit like the scene in Constantine where the Angel Gabriel (Tilda Swinton) turns bad and god pulls off her wings because she isn't allowed them any more.

Cool film that.

Cool job too, concept art for games.

Thanks everyone!

Yeah, we already have our angels sans wings but with stubbies. Our story has it that a symbol is burned onto the fallen angels, therefore marking them as such.

I might just look for general symbols of evil in Christian mythology, since there's no symbol for the fallen angel (and I would really like to avoid clichés).
