Think your significant other is cheating on you? Don't bother hiring a private detective to find out. Just plug in a Nintendo Wii.
A US soldier used the console to discover his wife had been with another man while he was serving in Iraq.
The soldier, known only as Tony, claims he caught his partner out by searching the Wii's play history on his return.
He arrived back from a year in Iraq to reports from friends that his wife was seeing someone else. She claimed she had only kissed this other man once.
Tony claimed she was cheating on him with a professional bowler. Tony had the Wii in Iraq but mailed it back to the US when he was told he was returning home.
Crucially, when he got back he found there was a new 'Mii' - a character created on the console by each player - on his Wii. Each Mii is usually made to resemble the player's features.
In an e-mail to a Nintendo message board, he said he was confused about his wife's denials of any indiscretion.
'All that changed when I plug in my Nintendo Wii for some Wii Sports.
'I flip through the Wii menu and visit the Mii channel so I can peruse the many friends that I have created with the guys that I played with in Iraq.
'As I go through the characters I see there is a Mii that I have not created.'
He said the new Mii was 'strikingly similar' to the man his wife was accused of cheating with.
'I went into the Wii message board and click on the calendar option,' explained Tony.
'Through this menu I was able to identify the many nights my wife's Mii and this other Mii character played Wii bowling.'
Tony has separated from his wife and filed for divorce.

Um.... ok.... well..... I guess..... I really can't think of anything to say to this, other than unfortunately, it is EXTREMELY common for military wives to cheat while their husbands are gone. My BF's in the army, and he sees it constantly. Not really surprised at the cheating, more at the method of detection used. huh.gif

Well.... if there were so many records of them bowling together, maybe they didn't have time for anything else?

LOL... that's the first thing I thought of too... I could see this being a Hollywood movie where Bill Murray's role in 'KingPin' (Ernie McCracken) is revived. grin2.gif

she should know better than to invite another guy to her place. i feel sorry for her husband. she should have been honest from the start than to keep something like that from going on far too long.
JeremyGTS
the the wii is connected online then miis can just "wander" to your console he may have jumped the gun on this.
J Gab
actually Jeremy...they can't just "wander" to your Wii...for one, the guy she cheated with would have to have a Wii himself and then they would have to be Wii Friends on there...and then someone would have to put the Mii onto the Wii console- they don't just show up unless someone sends them...and if so, once again, you have to be friends on there to do that...
kenshinx
i don't have Wii ... so i dont know what you all talking about mellow.gif

anyway... poor husband

on Wiis, you can create avatars called Miis. you can pick the size of the body, the color, the hair, the eyes, the mouth. when you're done, they walk around like a video game character, and you can go and meet other people who have Mii avatars through Wiis. i never went online with my Mii tho...

she cheated on him theres nothing else to say, she admitted to kissing him, i wouldnt waste my time if a girl did that to me, and they played his wii together, he'll never look at that console the same again. poor guy.

Ditto. But I have been a victim of this sort of thing ( mine was physical presence!) so it really hurts when you see real evidence........
