I read in a book once about a string of reports dealing with what's commonly called the MAD GASSERS that was never solved. The reports were common that people's houses would fill with a noxious gas making the occupants sick. anyone heard of anything like this and if so what are your thoughts?
My personal opinion is it was prolly some crazy dude. But you hear a lot of reports of gassing in people claiming to be alien abductees and at the time gasses and accurate ways of filling someone's houses with it undetected were rare.

I think you may be referring to the MAD GASSER OF MATTOON. A very odd story from WW2 era:

Excellent reading!

Yes that is great reading.
It seems almost like it was some sort of secret government testing of a new chemical compound for that era.

Strange circumstances:
Attacks happened in rural areas
Gassings seem to work around local authorities
The time era was perfect for chemical warfare testing
The perpetrators or 'creature' was so elusive that law enforcement officials eventually declared him nonexistent
The gas was never identified

Evidence has developed in comparatively recent years that the Mad Gasser of Mattoon, Illinois, was the son of a successful and respected local businessman. The son had returned home from university a few years earlier as an expert and accomplished chemist - and crazier than a coot.

But that still leaves wholly unexplained the Mad Gasser of Botetourt County, Virginia, a decade earlier.
