New York - (AP) - It was a Thanksgiving meal for 10, but Tim Janus devoured it alone in just 15 minutes as part of a public relations stunt to draw attention to New York City's hungry.

"What's so important about today is that it begins to fill my stomach up and I can now leave a little more for everybody else," Janus said after consuming a 10-pound turkey, four pounds of mashed potatoes, three pounds of cranberry sauce and 2 1/2 pounds of beans.

And he still had room for dessert: an entire pumpkin pie.

Janus - a Major League Eater champion who holds world titles in cannolis, marshmallow Peeps and tiramisu - said the league was donating $6,000 to the Food Bank for New York City - a sum that will provide 30,000 meals.

$6,000 dollars doesn't sound like much, but when it is broken down the amount of meals it will serve is amazing.

Or... You know... He could have let the homeless eat his dinner. Seems like it could have served 40,000 meals...

b****** ate all the pie too...

Isn't that a cliche? "To help the hungry homeless people I will eat alllllllllllllllllll of this pie..."

I totally agree with on this. I think that a bit hypocritical. He really should have gave all that food to the homeless plus money so they can at least have a decent meal for once and for more than once. That would make anyone in their situation happy.

I agree what point does it serve for him to eat it all. He should have had the 'homeless' people eat the feast instead...

Can you imagine how long he sits on the toilet after a meal like that???

As other posters said, why didn't they just feed the homeless with this meal, and the league still donate's the money...The only reason I can think of is that the league wouldn't get recognition for just the donation...They had to have a gimmick first, and the Major League Eater was it...
