Kwarantyne
Well, after several hours of bored contemplation compiled over a period of 2 weeks, I have come up with a theory on ghost creation and appearances (as in "becoming visible"). NOTE: All crtisiscm is appreciated, but make a point, not just a complaint.

1. Creation
A ghost is created when a person dies with a belief in the Christian God but not a total commitment. The person's soul is then bound to "Purgatory", or bound to the Earth.

2. Appearance
The free-floating soul is invisible, but is able to draw energy from other objects, such as light-bulbs (flickering bulbs, perhaps?) or people (you give heat to the soul through conduction, and you feel cold. A.K.A. Cold spots). This energy can then be used to do various things which "solidify" the soul and make it able to push you over or form into an apparition.

Wow, I thought that would be longer. Oh well. All posts (with reason) are welcome!

Theories are something people use as a crutch to describe something they cannot truly explain with real information (generally because we lack the technology to really explain something). I don't deal in theory. Take the energy you put into that theory and use it to find the truth.
Belle.

Hi Kwarantyne,

Interesting theory - it is always fun to make up your own ain't it?

Well, lots of other religions/cultures have ghosts don't they? But maybe that doesn't matter so much - I am am a bit ignorant about religion so maybe they have purgatory as well.
I am pretty sure part two has been mentioned by others before.

But good going and welcome to Um original.gif

I believe ghosts are earth bound spirits with unfinished business or died tragically...

Spirits are different and everyone has one and depending how you lived your life depends on which realm you go to after life. Religion is just a vehicle to get you there...

Just my opinion!!!

So anyone who isn't Christian or doesn't believe in Jesus can't form a ghost?

Ghosts/spirits etc. have been recorded through out time looooonnnngggg before the establishment of the Church.

true:

look what happened to this philosophist:

It happened that Athenodorus the philosopher came to Athens at this time, and reading the bill ascertained the price. The extraordinary cheapness raised his suspicion; nevertheless, when he heard tbe whole story, he was so far from being discouraged, that he was more strongly inclined to hire it, and, in short, actually did so. When it grew towards evening, he ordered a couch to be prepared for him in the fore part of the house, and after calling for a light, together with his pen and tablets, he directed all his people to retire within. But that his mind might not, for want of employment, be open to the vain terrors of imaginary noises and apparitions, he applied himself to writing with all his faculties. The first part of the night passed with usual silence, then began the clanking of iron fetters; however, he neither lifted up his eyes, nor laid down his pen, but closed his ears by concentrating his attention. The noise increased and advanced nearer, till it seemed at the door, and at last in the chamber. He looked round and saw the apparition exactly as it had been described to him: it stood before him, beckoning with the finger. Athenodorus made a sign with his hand that it should wait a little, and bent again to his writing, but the ghost rattling its chains over his head as he wrote, he looked round and saw it beckoning as before. Upon this he immediately took up his lamp and followed it. The ghost slowly stalked along, as if encumbered with its chains; and having turned into the courtyard of the house, suddenly vanished. Athenodorus being thus deserted, marked the spot with a handful of grass and leaves. The next day he went to the magistrates, and advised them to order that spot to be dug up. There they found bones commingled and intertwined with chains; for the body had mouldered away by long Iying in the ground, leaving them bare, and corroded by the fetters. The bones were collected, and buried at the public expense; and after the ghost was thus duly laid the house was haunted no more.

there are other story's in the link below.
