So last night as I was baking the chandelier in my kitchen started moving for no apparent reason! My mom saw it 'dance around' and as soon as I turned around it stopped moving. I jumped up down to see if maybe that was it but nope nothing it didn't move an inch. There was no reason for it to be moving and the thing is pretty heavy to just start swinging on it's own. So since we couldn't find find any explanation for it we just brushed it off.
That night though when I went to sleep I saw lights dancing around my room little things just sort of dashing from one end to the other end of the room. Now maybe I was dreaming or it was in my mind but still pretty weird though right?
Now I could dismiss the first two events as just being coincidence or me going insane. But this morning when I was showering I saw this brown thing zoom past my shower curtain! I kid you not it was small and looked like a moth but with larger wings it freaked me out so bad. But again I could just be going insane. It wasn't a bat or anything and it wasn't a moth because it was to big and anything that I would be able to spot again.

So I want to know what people think of fairies I was looking at a few on the internet but most seem to be just pretty pictures with no real info. So anyone have any good reliable information on these creatures?

and yes I suppose I could be imagining the things around me but suppose I'm not and humor me here.

Not sure what to say...unless you can get a better look at it, if you see it again, what can anyone conclude? But, still, quite interesting.

Are you an avid believer of fairies and other creatures as this? And do you read a lot of folklorish literature about fairies and the sort?

If so, most likely what you saw was seen because of your mindset and beliefs....So it could either be a fairy, or something else such as a ghost, or maybe even UFO manifestations. (There are several reports of UFO's flying over peoples houses causing poltergeist-like activity INSIDE their homes)

Remember, what you believe in will most likely be what you see. Not to say what you saw wasn't real, I'm not saying that at all, but you would be amazed at what your mind will make you think you saw when it could have quite possibly been something else.

Because of course, "the fairy lights and witches riding brooms of the olden days are the UFO's and aliens of today" if you catch my drift.

EDIT: For a few hundred years, Fairy sightings have been VERY few. It could be because of the fact that our minds and intelligences are evolving, which is why we see UFOs all the time today. Look at the fact that back in the medieval times when someone saw a bright light in the sky, they thought OH of course its a fairy, but now if we saw the same thing we'd think its a UFO.

Let us know if you see anything else if you're telling the truth, it sounds interesting! and try for some photos!

I wish I could have gotten a better look at it but it was just quick, I think that I forgot to add it's 'wings' were brown which seems funny compared to all the fairies I see on the internet seem to show brightly colored happy go lucky fairies.

Indrid Cold your post got me thinking a lot!
Thinking back on my experience I automatically assumed it was a fairy.... and I have no clue as to why!
I don't read anything Celtic or folklore because I know that the mythology surrounding such tales are very complex as are the Celtic and I think Welsh languages. So I never really bothered to go into such things. But I wonder why I immediately thought it was a fairy, it was the first thing that popped into my mind.
I have been far more interested in ghosts as of late then anything else, so why didn't I think maybe it was a ghost?
I would love to get some pictures of what I saw but it was so quick. Maybe the chandelier moving would be a great youtube video (yeah right, it would just be called a fake anyway). My mom warned me not to sit under it because she thinks it might fall now, and my dad checked it out to see if it was coming loose but he said it looked fine and shouldn't have been moving at all.

Anyway thank you both for your insight and here's hoping I either stop seeing things or get a good picture! (which i'm going to take right now)
Blueguardian
good luck with your picture, im not sure what to think when it comes to faries. strange events you have expirienced though.

Because you mentioned the chandelier, you might want to rule out fairies. They're not known for playing with fixtures. You seem to be experiencing some sort of haunting, it seem...stuff inexplicably moving, lights, shadows, etc. It might stop as suddenly as it started - sometimes a group of weird things happen, and then it's done and gone, so it never gets explained or has a chance to be investigated. Sometimes these things are a sign of some sort, but they are never pertained as that until some sort of significant event happens and the strangeness suddenly stops. Hopefully you're not in for anything more disturbing. Has anyone brough anything new into the house, any sort of object? Most likely something that was given to or made for them. Could be anything, even something innocently given. Like some friend gives someone something as they thought of them of thought they might like it. Unless something is given where someone 'felt' they should have it - that's never good.
Urisk
This sounds suspiciously like something from the book Once by James Herbert.

kimirike,
I agree with the other posters about there may be other possibilities of the cause of your experiences. You sound solid and true in your discussion about this. I hope you'll post an update as you find out more about what's going on in your home.

I find both of your statements intriguing.
Would you please list the resources that you based your statements on?

Umm, I really don't know how to list any resources of what fairies are not known for doing. I like to read - I read alot of paranormal stories, personal accouunts, theories, etc. I've been doing so for the better part of my life because I find it all very interesting. I simply can't remember where or how I have heard everything over the years. I've come across alot of fairy, or little people stories...and I really do not recall ever hearing of any fairy specifically being spotted indoors, let alone playing with any heavy objects (well, heavy for them compared to their size). That's what I base my statement on....just what I generally think I know. Never, at any point, would I ever claim to be an expert in anything, no matter how much I read or study something, in any regard.

Well said Indrid Cold. Nail on the head

kimirike, a chandelier has electricity running through it. A possibility worth considering is that the electrical field was affected in some way? If you have a webcam, might pay to train it on the chandelier for a few days and see if you can capture something.

I totally forgot that we just received a new dog! She's a mixed breed and is very old, I wonder if maybe having here has spurred these things? The dog we received was a gift from my mother's friend since we got robbed back in September so he thought we needed a 'guard dog' however she doesn't bark or do much and looks really frail. I had completely forgotten about her (kinda feel guilty about it now too). Anyway she's been here less than week and is the only thing that I can really say has changed.

So I took some pictures and they are unremarkable and since my sister took the camera I only had my phone so not only are they boring but bad camera phone quality to boot. Here's the link to one I uploaded (hope it works) I only uploaded one since the others are pretty much the same thing but from different angles.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v38/lawrence/IMG_0189.jpg
The reason that the lights look different in size is because the bulbs are different sizes. So yeah, nothing.
And as for it maybe being a haunting well I think maybe that could be it. Something messing with me. As for last night, remember when I said that I was seeing lights in my room? Well when I went to sleep, I felt scared, and, I'll admit it, I didn't open my eyes and just went to sleep. I went into five year old mode and slept under the covers! Which is weird considering I'm 'the brave one' in my family. But yeah I just kinda gave into my fear, which pushes me farther away from fairies and closer to ghost or entity.
Still though I'm going to be brushing up on my Fairy mythology and see if anything pops out at me. Because the only fairy I know of is Tinkerbell and I don't think she counts.

Yeah I think that the electrical field could have affected it, but the thing is we've lived here for three years and it's never budged so somethings changed. I think maybe if I get my hands on a camera I will take some short little vids but still I wish had a webcam that sounds more promising.

I really don't know much about the faeries in general,
I'm mainly researching the lores & legends of the wee folks like gnomes, elves, pixies, house brownies, & such as that.
I asked about resources simply hoping to learn more.
Thanks for your reply.

Tinkerbell is not the traditional Faery. In fact, she was nothing like what proper Faeries are like. Might I suggest some places for you to try?

First off, Mysterious Britain is a good place to start. You get a pretty good rundown of the British Celtic faeries. Also, they have a fledgling forum too (I'm not plugging, just making folks aware of it).

Books you might want to try (sorry, most are on Scottish folklore, but I believe that these give some of the best representations of what faeries are really supposed to be like! Maybe I'm just being biased happy.gif)

>On the Trail of Scottish Myths and Legends- Stuart McHardy. Good place to start! the ISBN is 1 84282 049 4
>The Silver Bough by F. Marian McNeill really is the one you want!! ISBN is 0 86241 231 5
>The Secret Commonwealth by Rev Robert Kirk is worth picking up. It's a 17th Century manuscript but it gets re-published regularly.
>Faeries by Brian Froud and Alan Lee. An art book with lots of great pictures by these awesome artists. Includes faeries from around the UK, and is probably the easiest to start with. Very user friendly and gives you all the info you need for each. Froud desgined the characters for Labyrinth and Alan Lee is a famous Lord of the Rings artist (as well as designing for the films!) ISBN is 1 86205 558 0

Do I believe in Faeries? I really can't say. It's like asking if I believe in God. I like to think that although I'm a bit of a skeptic, I still have an open enough mind to accept the possibilities. Instead I'm happy to read up on the stuff.

I agree mostly with Indrid, but I'm not sure if it can be said fairy sightings have been "very few." Through the centuries, fairy sightings are at least as numerous as modern UFO sightings, and those number in the many thousands. Many today are making the case that modern UFO sightings of "little men" are a continuation or evolution of fairy sightings. Graham Hancock makes an excellent case for all this in his compelling book, "Supernatural." Others have also made a good case, such as famed UFO researcher Jaque Vallee, and the dude who wrote the Mothman books.

There is a article here at UM that might add to this discussion:

Neither are ghosts or aliens or Bigfoot but people believe in them because they whole heatedly believe that they saw them. Some people say that they never even seen a ghost but believe in them anyway because of a certain feeling that they get, their beliefs are just as valid as mine. I saw something that I can't explain, it was small and brown and had wings and was there for a split second. My mind went to fairies and I have no idea as to why. So what am supposed to do?

With so many past folklore about fairies I have to wonder if maybe there is something to it. Just because you've never seen a fairy doesn't give you the authority to say they aren't real. I've never seen an alien but I can't say they aren't real. and as far as I know people didn't believe in the giant squid and it was just part of ancient stories, and now there is evidence that it exists.
