Has anyone ever read The Twilight Series by Stephanie Meyer? They're a vampire romance series, which seems to be quite cliche in teenage fiction, but these books are the most brillant thing I've have ever read.
They are about a girl named Bella Swan, who moves to the town of Forks to live with her Dad after her mother gets married. She's prepared for a boring couple of years, that is, until she meets Edward Cullen. Edward is the most beautiful person she has ever seen. What Bella dosen't know, is that Edward is a vampire - So is his equally beautiful family. Edward made the descion years ago to be a "good" vampire - Who dosen't feed on human blood. Edward is, in his own words, a "freak amongst the freaks" because of the fact he can read peoples thoughts. The first thing he notices about his Bella, is that he can't see into her mind. This puzzles Edward from the start. Then, Edward gets a irresistible to kill her and drink her blood - To the point where Edward is sat next to her in Biology class thinking about the best and quickist way to kill Bella and all the witnesses. He manages to resist (By thinking about how much is would disappoint his adopted mother and farther) and after Bella's first day, flees to be as far away from her as possible. Eventually, he returns, and finds himself falling in love with her. There's obviously a lot more to the plot then that, but really, it is a amazing love story, about Edwards love for Bella, but at the same time him fighting the feelings to hurt her, or distance himself from her for her safety. It's told from Bella's POV, and it's pure brillance, honestly. They're are 3 books so far in the series, and theres another one being written, as well as one that will follow pretty much the same plotline as the first book, but from Edwards POV. There is also going to be a film, and work begins on that in Febuary.
They are brillant, I don't normally like vampire stories but I read the first one and it just blew me away. If you havn't read them, I highly reccomend it. The books have quite a cult following now, and have even been predicated to be as big as Harry Potter (The third book in the series, Eclipse, was the book that knocked Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows off of the number 1 spot on the bestsellers list). While I can't imagine them getting as big as HP, they really are great books and even if you don't like vampire stories, they're worth reading!
