Okay, I have to make it clear before I relate this story that it did NOT happen to me, but it DID happen to a close family member who is not prone to lying or exaggeration. It has mystified her to say the least.
She is around her boyfriend's house, it is 3.30am, the boyfriend lays on the bed and they stick a DVD on. She then decides she want to go to the loo, she pauses the DVD and off she trots.
Coming back, she sits down on the bed, cross-legged.
This is where a massive discrepancy arises. She blinks, suddenly it is no longer 3.30am but 5.30am, she is sitting in the same position, the DVD is still paused. Looking around she now notices that her boyfriend is sound asleep - whereas before she went to the loo, he was wide awake.
Misreading the time is not a possibility as they started to watch the DVD when they came in from a night out which was shortly after 3am.
The thing that interested me about this whole story was when she told me was that the DVD was still paused, two hours later - but as far as I am aware, does a DVD on pause not "unpause" itself if left for longer than, say, five minutes? Or can it indeed stay paused for however long you might leave it?
I have to also make it clear that because I know this person very, very well, I do believe exactly what they are telling me. It mystifies me as I have had discrepancies of a similar nature, God knows what it is doing to her.
She is going to ask him what exactly happened when she came back from the loo and sat back down within the next couple of days - did he see her fall asleep etc etc.
It's the DVD bit that gets me........
