Well...

If you believe in the theory of evolution, it could be the missing link between ape and man...
If you believe in the theory of creation, it could be a hybrid species made from man interbreeding with ape..
Or just a new species..

Either or, are interesting and worth the research IMO...

Not really. It would just be another species of animal, likely being a great ape (based on what is available), like a gorilla is in relation to humans. Common ancestor perhaps way down the line, but not a direct lineage. Anyways, I just think it falls in line with every cryptid. We are intrigued by the unknown and the possibilities of what might be out there.

I've never understood the concept of 'missing link'. It's been misinterpreted by a lot of us in society.

There is NO missing link, bigfoot is a possible missing link...something that science has overlooked. But seeing as they have no fossil record (that has been substantiated) then we can't place them on a timeline or even know if they have ever existed at any time in history.

Science has adequately plotted our evolutionary history. The link may very well be an offshoot from the same branch of our history...like neanderthal man or the hobbits of Indonesia.

Well I am not totally intrigued by bigfoot in particular but sometimes things just catch ones imagination. I am sure I would think some of your interests are very boring. tongue.gif

I myself think that the myth of bigfoot may derive from an oral tradition past down through the centuries describing Gigantapithicus, Neanderthals or other things we coexisted with.

I shot one once. It no longer interests me.

I wonder if we'll ever see a man vs wild where he skins and hollows out a bigfoot to show you how to keep warm when its real cold out.

The current forms of ape are not our ancestors. A common, now extinct, ancestor is shared.

why did you join a paranormal forum if youre not interested in this stuff? seems kinda...pointless, doesnt it?

'Cause potentially he lives a lot closer then any other major crypto. Plus, I used to scare my little brother with stories and fake (very fake) prints on log roads. I'd take him into the woods and show him the fake print and then a friend would rattle the bushes nearby and I'd run. Sure, it was cruel, but I was only 9. grin2.gif

That would have been awesome, if while you were playing a prank on you little brother, a real bigfoot came out and scared the crap out of you! (literaly and figuratively) Haha!. Would make for an excellent story.

Well, you know that urban legend about how the foot size corresponds to the size of the.. *cough* male sexual organ?

That would explain why women would be interested in finding Bigfoot whistling2.gif

Massquatch
For me, its because I saw an episode of In Search of years and tears ago. They had a segment about Bigfoot, and I was hooked.
I'm a Sasquatch enthusiast for many reasons. It gives me a good excuse to spend time outdoors (not that I need an excuse, I love the outdoors).
It brings an aspect of mystery to everyday life.
If it does indeed exist, it needs to be protected, and if I can prove that in fact does exist, then hopefully protection will follow.
Like I said, many reasons. These are only just a few.
~Cheese~
I just want the mystery to be proven fake or true.

Suppose because it might a new species, or species we thought lost? Has just the same right to be here as a rockhopper penguin. I'm not much into Bigfoot, though, but it's just as relevent to cryptozoology as any other beastie.

This is my main reason for interest in it...but i find the story of the Jersey Devil much more interesting(so what if it's almost entirely UNbelievable!! Lol)

That's not how evolution works.

Bigfoot (if it exists...) would just be another "cousin" to humans...but it would be interesting to see just how closely related we are if one is found...

They ALL may not be making it up...some people may really have seen something..who knows...you didnt join this website just to say everything is made up did you? What interests you? And what are your thoughts about the reality of its existence?

I also think that bigfoot strikes a chord in our collective psyche...we WANT something untamed, free, a symbol that all the world is NOT under man's dominion and explored. Bigfoot is a symbol of all that. We are the apex predators and masters of this planet...we want something that might remain free of that dominance, a symbol that our modern society and technology has not taken the mystery and excitement out of everything.

QUOTE

I do believe that some people are convinced that they saw something. But the human mind tries to make sense of things it doesn't understand...a shadow falling a certain way on our bedpost looks like a person standing there, a manatee or dugong glimpsed under the wake of a passing boat seems to be a mermaid, our eyes and minds play tricks on us all the time...same with our other senses.
