Alright, this scared the giggles out of me, I was travelling to work when above me through the top of my front windshield, something caught my eye and it was a ball of light travelling very fast above my car, almost in sync with the very direction I was travelling. It lit my whole car up with light for a split second... could this be a meteor?? It just went very fast across the sky before dissapearing.

How were atmospheric conditions?
There is a phenomenon called ball lightning which is VERY rare and
seems to have a little different behavior with every appearance. A
WW II vet told me once that he saw the bomber next to him start
glowing brighter and brighter starting on the gun turrets before blow-
ing apart. Seaman often reports a similar thing on ships but these
don't usually end catastrophically.
If it actually lasted longer than three seconds it was not a meteor.
If it was close to three seconds then you should have heard of other
sightings if it were a meteor.
My guess with the very scant information here would be plane.

This sounds alot like something that happened to me. In my experience the meteor paused for a moment parallel with my car before continuing on (At least thats how I saw it).
