Finally first topic. Since I was little I've loved building, and that led me to archetecture. Soon I came to the conclusion that an empire is the ultimate engineering feat. So now trying to build I first need a religion, but religous disputes could destroy my creation.so the question is should I destroy all cultural traits I dislike or oppose my beleifs, or should I reach a compromise amongst all religions [cultures]

seriously what would you do?

how would you respond?

your answers will help me [you] understand societal development

OK, I'll bite....If you truly wanted to start your own religion, do what the Christians did when they incorporated the pagan beliefs to integrate the peoples of the land. People feel more comfortable with beliefs that are close to their own, but without all the extra things they don't like. The best thing to do would to be able to do a poll of different religious peoples and find out what they liked about their religion and what they didn't. Exclude the most common dislikes, include the common likes, et voilą!

A secular government is the only way to go. Allowing each person to have and practice their own faith. It has been shown time and time again religious empires only subjugate the people.

Why not have multiple religions in one empire who all answer to a monarch? You only let people in who are not racist and judgmental of other peoples religion and ethnicity. You implement sectors in the empire for the different groups of people. Like a pie chart.

ive considered your responses to this and the question is

what of the undesirable religions [cults].
should i include them?
our outcast?

also how would you suggest I ensure representation remain fair as populations change amongst each faith?

Nice thread concept. I would say reach compromise. Religion literally has hundreds of different interpretations. I have seriously looked and searched for the definate meaning of the word religion and found it is impossible to find any one definate definition. There are as many definitions as their are people basically. Some say it is one's beliefs that affect one's actions, some say it is a commitment to a doctrine and others say it is the developing of one's relations with the universe as to lose one's identity with it and become one with it etc etc

There are so many. A mystic will give a different definition to an atheist or a christian fundamentalist will give a different answer to a religious philosopher etc. According to some definitions you will never be able to destroy religion because some say religion is one's total reaction to life itself.

actually religions are destroyed by either killing or corrupting their followers
and then theres book burning to ensure it does not surface for a while

ive thought this and posted this to complete my own religous veiws and because it is a great topic
