Does somebody on this forum play with "The Sims"...I've just bought it to have some fun during the long times of idleness you must live when you're a student hahaha!
I know that there are several possibilities on this game, but any funny tips?

I've got the Sims as well - a very fun and addictive game.
Some tips I can think of offhand:
If your sims have 0 cooking skill, don't let them cook using the oven, they tend to set it on fire rather a lot.
Putting a pink flamingo in the garden seems to entertain them rather a lot more than it ought to.
Remember to pay the bills, put out the rubbish and wash the dishes.
Oh yeah, and don't put baths and toilets outside on the lawn, because your sims will try and use them, wherever they are. :-\

if i was playing that would the exact reason why i'd be putting them out there :)
Admittedly this is from the person who spent the beginning of the training mission in Deus Ex piling up the potted plants, and turning the lights on and off just because i could :D
Also when you have a baby you have to keep one of your Sims off work, but you have to do it alternately or one of them will end up loosing their jobs. Setting up and extra bed for the 3 Sim days helps with the baby waking up both your Sims in the middle of the night. Although it is also quite fun to have social services come and take you child away, then just as she picks the baby up go into build mode and take all the doors out of the room. :s2 . That also works with swimming pools if you feel like having a little swimming accident.... muhahaha.
Its also worthwhile getting some of (if not all of) the addons.
I’m starting to think I may have been playing it a bit too much! ::)

to display the command prompt press Ctrl, Shift +C, and to enter multiple cheats put a semicolon between each one:
1000 Simoloeons - Klapaucius
island home - water_tool
add new family history - hist_add
load any house - house <house #>
create a character mode - edit_char
map editor - map_edit on
move any object - move_objects
Hope these add some fun to the game

I play The Sims as well. It is very addictive, like Saruman said. I have the expansion pack called Livin' Large, which gives you a lot more items, neighborhoods, and clothing styles. My brother personally enjoys using the fireworks inside the house and setting the people on fire. :s2 I try to keep them happy while my brother makes their life a living Hell.

I had to un-install The Sims for the PC.
After downloading too many extra items and skins and so on, I ended up making a true mess of it.

It is really cool on the X-Box... really easy to control.
I have the hardest time ...Keeping my Sims "fun" level up.... I can pretty much keep the other levels up.
And I have a little problem with the Social skills too.... It can drive you crazy.
I'm not having trouble with money.. or cooking though.

When I first started palying I was completely addicted. I only have the original game, not any of the fun and fancy expansion packs. My first family were burned alive after about a minute of being in their new home. Never put a stove in with people who can't cook.

lol I was surprised to see this thread back to life, and didn't remember to have started it one day! :-)
I have uninstalled The Sims for long as my computer didn't seem (sim lol) to like it, moreover I was fed up with cleaning up and always make them go to restroom! ;-)

A few things that I enjoyed a lot...Use the move objects cheat and get a lesbian couple to play in bed
Make them have affairs and they will fight if they get found out. I also like to make them live like slobs and get pissed at each other.
Start a fire and kill some of them off.The grim reaper will come and you play 'Rock, Paper, Scissors' with him to save the sim. They will also haunt the house at night and scare the people living there.
My favourite is getting a female or male playing in with the doll house and a man taking a piss or something else while standing up. Move the man away into the centre of the room and put the woman infront of him and make sure she is facing him. Well it was funny when I tried it a few years ago.
If you want to avoid paying the bills and stop having your stuff stolen when you only just wasted about $1,000 on a new TV then build a 1st floor but delete the ground floor along with the stairs. Don't pay the bills and the guys can't repossess your possessions. You can also let your kids skip school and neglect your baby. Oh if only this world was more like 'The Sims'!

there is only one expansion you need. Sims: Unleashed - add a whole new neighbourhood aswell as items and a few new jobs. Makes the other expansions look simple
If you can't be bothered buying the expansion go to
Killer Sims to download items. Although some dont work but it doesn't wreck any of the files in the game.
I downloaded the Sims 2 trailer and it looks really funny. If the trailer is correct the Sims 2 girls will be flashing alot

One of my guys actually got abducted by aliens! No Kidding!
He was out on the balcony doing some star-gazing (building the logic points), and I think he just got his third logic point. It was just before dawn (6:00am). This weird blue coil of light suddenly surrounded him and he was pulled up out of sight! He disappeared for like two days, then was suddenly back on the balcony. Nothing bad happened, stats were unchanged, and fortunately he has a maid and gardener. Didn't even lose his job, 'cause he was back just before work on the second day.
Actually, I like building houses the best.

"This weird blue coil of light suddenly surrounded him and he was pulled up out of sight! He disappeared for like two days, then was suddenly back on the balcony."
It sounds like an abduction to me. I didn't know they had them. Maybe I'll start using it again later.
They should allow open bisexual relationships. I've tried it before but the other sim usually finds out and gets upset.

Yeah, I just read about it on one of the strategy sites. If you use the telescope continuously for a very long time (didn't specify indoors or out), two logic points or so, there is a good chance your sim will get abducted by aliens for a few hours. Time speeds up while he/she is gone, but you can't do anything anyways. It also said some of the sims stats change after an abduction, but I didn't notice any.
