I recently switched to another ISP whiched used a speedtouch modem. It is broadband, so in theory it should work with my telephone, however when someone connects the phone, the connection to the internet is cut. I managed to solve the problem once but its doing it again and the method i used last time will not work. Does anyone have any ideas? I think its the microfilter but i dunno hmm.gif

I had the same problem with the speedtouch modem. After calling my ISP and cranking up the phone bill I was told it was the microfilter, got a new one and the same still happened. It actually turned out to be a problem that BT had to fix with the main 'box' in our house, there was some thing me jig on it that blocked out noise (not like a microfilter) that stopped the internet staying active when the phone rang.

So do I need to contact my ISP to fix the problem? I changed the microfilter and that didn't seem to help the problem, and sometimes it disconnects without the phone ringing.

I aren't a massive expert on this kind of thing...its not Orange you're using is it as your ISP?. Thats who I had it with and they were pants. I ended up leaving them on not so good terms as they insisted the problem was my equiptment then decided after a whole month of no internet access it was a fault with their side of the works.

I would give them a call (not always cheap and with alot of ISP's you're on hold for YEARS!) Unfortunately, the lovely man 'George' who answered my call wasn't very good at understanding English and we couldn't go any further because he couldn't grasp what my post code was!!!.

Good luck, Hope it gets resolved quickly, its one of the most annoying things on earth !!
