Harrisburg, Pa. - (AP) - New mint packets being sold by The Hershey Co. look nearly identical to the tiny heat-sealed bags used to sell illegal powdered drugs like crack, heroin and cocaine and glorify the drug trade, a Philadelphia police official said.

Ice Breakers Pacs, nickel-sized dissolvable pouches with a powdered sweetener inside, hit store shelves in November. The packets, which come in blue and orange plastic slide-up cases, are similar enough to drug packets that a child familiar with the candy could mistakenly swallow a heat-sealed bag of drugs, Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector William Blackburn said.

"It glorifies the drug trade," he said. "There's really no reason that a product like this should be on the shelf."

Wow. That does look similar.

It would be smart of Hershey to have thier logo on every individual wrapper!

Anyone see a lawsuit on this one?

haha that's going to come into play when some 8 year old finds their parents "party stash" and thinks it's candy.

Most drug dealers don't use heat sealed bags that cops a ding bat... They use dime bags... (tiny zip bags)

I wouldn't know, LOL.

Either way, maybe the company should do a better job of research for packaging so that things like this aren't even brought up.

And the candy company will be held responsible for the parent's drugs.

Ain't lawyers great...

No the parents would be going to jail for neglect and man slaughter because they left their stash lying around.

Hmmm...I see an oppurtunity... w00t.gif ...I wonder how much one of those little things would sell for... ph34r.gif

That is rather humerus, however the fact remains that the contents of the package are themselves harmless.
Jaguat
Yeah, and its not Herschey's or Ice Breaker's fault that the dealers are glorifying their drugs with their products. It's the dealers themselves!

Holy crap!

I've been trying to find this type of candy for a long time now. I've looked in Albertson's, Wal-mart, the check-out counters at Best Buy etc. I'm beginning to give up on the search.

I want to get some of this crack-like candy before it's too late! It seems the Hersey's website still has it listed at least.
