While in Brentwood, Tennessee visiting my family for Thanksgiving I took various pictures inside the house. One picture struck me as odd. It's a picture of the walkway to the front door. On either side of the door are five small windows seperated by wood. In the windows on the right side of the door you can see what looks like a head, face with dark hair, and you can even make out the right shoulder and part of an arm. It actually looks like a man wearing an old civil war uniform. Above that appears to be an african american face.

It would make sense to get a civil warm ghost in Brentwood, being very close to Franklin, where civil warm battles took place. There are various old graves scattered throughout the area where my family lives. Throughout my stay I heard a lot of strange noises which I cannot explain. I didn't even notice the face in this photo until my girlfriend pointed it out last night! I see no way how this could possibly be a freflection, but maybe somebody else can. Clearly the mess just to the left of the face/body is some sort of reflection, but to get such detailed features of a human from a random relfect? Doubtful. The photo was taken late at night after everyone had gone to bed.

Any thoughts?


Look to the right of the door in the window below the reflection of the camera flash. What do you think that is? To me it looks like a soldier ghost.

It's just a simulacrum caused by either smears on the glass or something just on the other side I reckon.

I just see smears on the glass, highlighted by the flash. I looked at the big picture before reading what you'd written and before looking at the close-up, but I could see absolutely nothing resembling a person, let alone a soldier. IMO if you really have to look hard for something in an image or have someone point out and suggest where it is, then chances are good there is nothing there. Thanks for sharing though.

Hate to sound like a skeptic, but that's a case of dirty window. ><; Also, camera flashes change everything's appearance, even if you think "the flash is there, it shouldn't interfere". I would be less-skeptic if I saw a more visible shape and also if there was no flash on the camera.

I see what you are referring to and yes it does resemble something uncanny with humanoid features.

Tennessee is thick with Civil War history, so I personally think that there's probably more than a few restless spirits around the state.

It's really quite a spooky looking photo regardless if it's spirits, a reflection and/or smudged window panes.

I can't see too much resemblance personally, but i do see a kind of face there.

I agree, I think a lot of the time it's like looking for shapes in cloud formations...you're going to find something.

Wow I can not believe you all can not see that! The freaky part about it is that all jokes aside, one of the few times I've ever seen anything strange I saw a man that looked almost just like him. I mean close enough to be the same one, but the face does look a little different. To be honest I had not slept in days and I have always thought I was just seeing things, but the fact that looks so much like it was shocking to me. I live in Kentucky, really close to a cival war battle site myself.

I agree with most of the people here, its just either a smudge or a smudge that was made more obvious by the flash?

I see a face-like image, but it looks like it is standing facing to the right with it's head pointed slightly to us. It looks like it has a hood on, and I can see the shadows where the eyes would be. But in my opinion, it is just a smudge on the glass that loosely resembles a face.

Look in the window above the face and i can clearly see a gorilla looking back at us? And in the bottom window i see a person with a raised arm waving...maybe?

Those are definitely smudges on the glass. But it just goes to show that perfectly natural things can look uncanny. =P

Hey- I did look at your pic. I find nothing but posibly a dirty window. Here is the negative inage which would reveal much more if this was truly paranormal:
