I assumed that this is in the right section... =/ if not, feel free to move it!
I'm looking to find a book regarding the origins of Satan, I want all the information, that people sometimes refer to in discussion on this board about his fall from heaven, the story of the serpent, everything.
I bought a book recently called "The origin of Satan" but it was'nt what I had in mind, its very "real" for lack of a better term... Hard to explain.
I want the whole "mythical" story.
Anyone care to recommend?
Thanks folks =)

Would'nt I have to scout through it for particular references? it does'nt seem like a solid story. Maybe I'm wrong...... I want something referring only to Satan.. the devil?
I'm not religious so feel free to correct me

Well, there's some info about him on wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SatanI was too lazy to actually read it, so I don't know if it is what you are looking for. There's also a list of books that have something to do with Satan:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satan_in_literatureHope that helps!

Revelation 12:7-10 "And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, and prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent called the devil, and Satan, which decieveth the whole world. He was cast out into the earth and his angels were cast out with him. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come our salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ, for the accuser of our bretheren is cast down."
That is the Biblical story of the fall. Now there are a few theories as to why. The most accepted version is that after the creation of man, Satan and his angels would not bow to humankind, sparking this war in heaven. Another theory is from the Apocryphal Book of Enoch in which 'Sons of God' or 'Giants' depending on which translation you read became infatuated with man, coupling with them even, and this sparked the fall.
As far as books go, I HIGHLY reccomend the Field Guide to Demons, Fairies, Fallen Angels and other Subversive Spirits. This is an excellent read, I picked it up at a used book store for 5.00....and what's cool about it is the combination of mythology and folklore. You'll learn what other cultures believe about demons and Satan.
