everyone once in awhile I'll hear like this soft piano music playing before I drift off to sleep. It hasn't happened in years though I'm not sure why it happens but has anyone else ever experienced this to?

yep I have always noticed this and it plays very vividly as though I am hearing it but i know it's all in my little head. I have always put it down to a strong imagination and see it as my mind replaying something I have heard in the past.

Something similar happened to me twice last winter, except it was a high pitch sound of bells. I was wide awake on both occasions and it was accompanied by a sound of high wind. The one thing I don't know is if it was in my head or was it physical, but I do know it was definitely real. The reason I say it was real is because, I had this static charge that had somehow built up on my clothes, which caused my turquoise cross to glow a flaking blue kind of light, and with my cross to the side, I seen a blue light in the shape of a cross on my chest, I thought I was about ready to get laser zapped. The family pets were also acting strange. One dog, a black lab, came into my room, looked at me, turned around and went to bathroom on my floor. Which has never happened before. Now when I went to clean it up in the morning, it was like ooze surrounded by a membrane, kind of like an egg yoke, and the smell was like no other, it must have come from hell. The stench stayed in my room for quite awhile. Now after the first dog left the second one, a white and gray malamute with possibly some wolf, stood at my door looking in, he was very frigidity and jumpy. I went to him trying to calm him down, when he backed up while barking and growling at me, he turned an ran down the hall, almost like he was scared of me. The way those two dogs acted, baffles me. Mind control? Is it really possible? Too bad I didn't go outside to see where these noises were coming from, but I was terrified out of my wits. On the second encounter, and I use that term encounter lossly, since I'm still not sure what happened, I came close to going outside, a voice, not my own conscience told me, "You better not." Telepathy? I was also seeing strange imagery, places, things and people I've never recall seeing before, I know I had stuff placed in my head. More telepathy? I don't know, it's all just another mystery that has alluded me for months and still seems to haunt me at the same time. I just want the watchers to stop watching and pay up, or make it right. I want order back in my life!
I have much, much more to share, but only when I feel comfortable enough to let it out. It gets pretty personal, so please understand.

Hey .... when I was into the whole trying to A.P I would hear music. It's kind of creepy at first, at least to me it was. I've read about it and when you come close to actual AP you will hear music. I heard rock music, kinda reminded me of Zeppelin or something older. Weird how different people hear different things ... comfort zone I guess.
You reminded me of that ,.... thanks.

This is a phenomenon that many people have reported in the past, so don't think you are alone. Yes, it happens to me too, but only when I am running the fan in my bedroom.. And I do get upset as they never play the right song. At least if I have to hear phantom music, they could at least play something good ya know?

Frequently ^^ though there have been occations where it sounded like piano music, more commonly i hear what sounds to be a radio coming from a distance, like another floor or outside. I say radio because of the way it rises and falls in volume the way a station does if you're not totally tuned in. I always assumed it was white noise around the house that I couldn't proccess correctly and so my brain said it was music.

I hear a bunch of random sounds before I drift off to sleep. It's hard to decipher if the sounds were actually created or if it was in my head, e.g sounds of a pan or a fridge closing, or a soft whisper, I usually wake up there and would think to myself "wtf" then go back to sleep.

Sometimes this happens to me *on a fairly unfrequent basis* but here lately this has been happening more often. I'm not quite sure what it is though...
could just be the workings of an over-stressed imagination.

I hear music often when falling asleep. Sometimes it sounds almost like AM Radio, static-y, faint voices far away. Sometimes it is like big-band or jazz music - always very faint and far away. Most of the time when I hear it I don't really realize it for awhile and then all the sudden I will become fully conscious of it and then it will typically go away. I attribute it to drifting off and the subconscious mind becoming active causing us to have hypnagogic hallucinations.

I always hear music when I am falling asleep BECAUSE I run a fan in my room. White noise is so easy for your brain to manipulate, so it does. I also am a person who is surrounded by real music as much as possible, so it makes sense that when I am going to sleep, my brain serenades me.
What's cool about it is that it is never a song that I recognize, and usually has a distinct melody. Sometimes its mournful and crooning, sometimes its upbeat. There are pianos, violins, guitars, drums, or all of them combined. I really wish I had the ability to compose, because I could probably copy what I am 'hearing' and come up with some pretty beautiful pieces!
