Jordinson? God no, he's fast but he lacks so much technique. There's more to drumming than just going fast.
I'd say Danny Carey has my vote, just for his rhythm and technique.

Matt Tong from Bloc Party.
Relatively new and possibly obscure, but immeasurable talent.

the best drum soloist I ever heard was from a lowly jazz quartet in the 70s, I cant even remember the his name but he used to get the crew of the SS Orsova in a riot.
I could mention, Don Brewer of 'Grand Funk Railroad'
Keith Moon of the 'Who'
Ginger Baker of many groups
Unfortunately Keith is from yesterday, so he doesn't count

The thing I like about Jazz drummers is that they are not limited to doing just one style. They seem to implement what seems like other styles of music in their solos. For example, watch this video, the man drumming even does a "punk beat" somewhat near the middle!

You know how drummers will toss a drum stick into the air and then catch it and continue playing ? I saw Neil Peart do that and miss catching the stick as it came back down. I think it crashed down on one of his cymbals. Sorry Neil. Your an excellent drummer but you can't be doing that.

Charlie Watts
I would have to agree that Charlie is one heck of a drummer. Very simplistic but SOLID as a rock.
Stewart Copeland of the police is my absolute favorite though. That guy is the essence of rhythm.
...and of course the drummer in my
current band (Gary Holland formerly of Dokken and Great White) ain't too shabby either.

I like this guy, Slim Jim Phantom of Stray Cats fame, still doin it.
Saw them in Manchester ,England about 3 yrs ago, fantastic.
He plays standing up , dances all over the stage, & uses the snare (rockabilly style) to keep the beat! A one-off.

I'll try Rocket88,
Go back to your You Tube page you want. At the top of your pc screen is that exact You Tube page you're on, click and paste it.
-If you do not know how, click(left side) and hold starting at www (not at the http//) and highlight the right of it.
-leaving cursor on highlighted area, click(right side), now click 'copy'
Go back to UM forum and click 'Ad Reply'
-next to smiley faces is a green plus, click it.
-2 things will pop up. first, the web address
-click(right) and paste the You Tube address, then click 'ok'
-pop up will ask for titled link or something... put in what you want (? drum solo)
I hope I did it right and instruction was clear enough.

Did anyone ever see that Tony Royster Jr clip on youtube? He was amazing, how anyone does that stuff I'll never know. not least a 12 year old. If you like the skins andyou 've got a spare few minutes, you must watch

That drum beat he wanted to use in Some Kind of Monster to be different was hilarious, what a joke.
As for the best drummer today, I wouldn't have a clue I don't listen to a great deal of contemporary music and listening to as much metal as I do proficient (in some people's eyes) and fats paced drumming just becomes the norm.
However my favorite contemporary drummer is Meg White, she may not do much that is technically amazing, but the White Stripes don't have easy music to drum to and she doesn't let her ego get in the way of the drumming serving the music it is accompanying.

The thing I admire about Meg White is her timing . Jack White never uses a set list live so Meg has to guess what song they are about to play. On stage 90% of the songs Meg has her sticks up in the air waiting for jack to make a sound

The best drummer that I have ever seen was about 7 years old when I saw this local christian band and he had to stand at the set in order to play them. Every one else in the band was in their teens. It was an awesome show. That kid had serious skills.

Lars Ulrich drom soloI have all the respect in the world for Lars and Metallica but Lars is an average drummer he is far from being very good he just happens to be in a band with good chemistry and a great guitarist which mask how plain his style truely is
In my Opinion Joey Jordison of slipknot is the best Metal drummer that I know of. It is very hard to place on genre over the other as far as the "BEST" drummer is concerned such as a metal drummer to a jazz drummer. And yeah yeah I know there are 3 percussionists in Slipknot but the only thing that the other two guys do is back up his beats and rythems with essentially what he is already playing. Heck I can post like 10 different solos but you may as well go check his name on Youtube save me some time

Now Im not a big fan of Slipknot at all Smeagol but being a drummer word gets around about someone who can flat out play I had stated that it was my opinion that he was the best in the metal scene at this moment. And I dont play guitar so my opinion on Kirk Hammet is based on virtually nothing LOL Ive never even tried to play a guitar except for maybe that 2 week span when I was like 10 years old and wanted to thrash the world within the month and go on tour and become a famous metal god but as I found out guitar was not easy to play
