Firstly, I am Christian myself. we all know that this world is messed up and there is alot of evil out here. Anyone who has eyes will see that ALL the movies coming out in theatres are no where near Christian. Why try to boycott or band just this movie? I think it is ridiculous. now, I wouldn't go see the movie myself aswell as mostly all the movies coming out because, my fellow christians whether you like it or not the movies that are gonna make it to the public will contain some type of iniquity in them and sin. None of the movies will portray Jesus and what he teaches. So just read the bible and you will know how to handle it. Plus you have a choice to be a part of these contraversies and you have a choice to watch or not to watch so stop freaking out.

You see, you're the kind of religious person people can get on with. You may have the same religion as them, but you don't seem to think in the ways they tell you to think. You respect others beliefs and don't lose your own, something the christians who're complaining are afraid will happen to them.

Thanks for the compliment. original.gif

Another thing that really makes me laugh is when Christians talk about demons & the Devil and that how they do exist, but don't believe you when you say that you're possessed or being tormented by a demon, thinking you're some crazy moron. Talk about hyprocrisy! laugh.gif hmm.gif

A local theatre had a grand total of six people protest... grin2.gif

The BIG problem with the Golden Compass is that it was written by an Atheist for the children of atheists.

He's an agnostic, not the same thing.

Now understanding that they do not believe in the existence of any god, what would be the logical conclusion of the Quest of the book to kill God?

Answer if you are atheist child - There is no god, there are only those who believe in gods that not only should be but have to be killed.

Snopes - Urban Legend - True

So let's ban the book! After all, we're all morally superior the average godless heathen because we believe in a God who bases his faith on violence, submission and ignorance!

I love christianity.

The book isn't about anti-religion... It's about how religious organisations - the vatican, whatever islam has as their high-people, ect - telling people what to think. If they control your thought, they become like the gods they worship. The queen of the hives. The war isn't about unbelievers vs believers, it's about a war between those that can think, and those that are told what to think.

Quoting Joss: "People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think. Don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right."

Edit: I didn't mean to quote Kratos >.< .

I wasn't interested at first...all I saw was Kidman (over-rated actress, IMO) being an evil queen or something, some heroic kids and a CGI borefest. ie; same old same old.

But then I read that they kill God! That should be good for a larf.

Loading the streamed version right now happy.gif

They don't actually kill God AFAIK. In the final book of the trilogy, they kill an angel posing as God, or something like that.

The only ones badass enough to kill a god are Kratos and Nietzsche tongue.gif

Yeah, it's more in the last book of the trilogy where they kill God.

The thing is, I don't think I'm going to be seeing any of these movies. I just don't see how they can get any of them released in the US without cutting the majority of what made the books good.

I hear the movie is bombing hard.

I work at a movie theater and Enchanted is still doing better business.

So a sequel may not be in the cards.

I read that series in fourth grade, and still was a successfully brainwashed Christian until 7th.. Sorry, I don't see this possessing any children.

It's doing great in the UK and Europe~ Ranking number 1 since it was released.

Here.

The $81m worldwide launch means The Golden Compass should cross $100m within days. While a screenplay has been completed for the second episode in this potential trilogy, studio chiefs will await further proof of its commercial viability before they greenlight the next adventure.

Tbh, it should have been released in the summer, not the fall of the year. Maybe it'll do better when the kids are on their holiday breaks. And hopefully Subtle Knife will be greater...

There's something I don't understand...

The Magestirium doesn't like Lord Azriel, they want him dead, but they also want the key to unlocking the secret to traveling between worlds, which only Lord Azriel knows (as they know)...so why are they trying to kill him so desperately? Wouldn't it be more efficient to allow him to study the anomaly and give him sufficient funds to do so and THEN kill him?

I'm not too sure how Scotland, northern Island and Wales stand up compared though.

Can’t speak for Wales, but Scotland’s got a huge atheist and agonist population, so we haven’t had any fuss over this movie or the Harry Potters. Our Christians are mainly sane, non-church attending people who accept evolution, although we do have a small number of Catholics and Protestants who are nut cases, but they wont worry about there movies, they’re to busy killing each other.

As for the movie, I was disappointed. It was okay, but for all the hype I had expected it to be better. Both it and Narna where hyped up to be the next Lord of the Rings, but they just didn’t deliver. Fantastic movie, okay movie; worth a watch, but don’t expect movie of the year. That said, that’s just my opinion.... god I hope the Hobbit comes out soon.

To be fair. The movie was dumbed down a fair bit. But could have been a lot better, hopefully amber spyglass will rival it ten fold.

As for the Hobbit; Don't hold your breath. LOTR's Imo was a fluke by Peter Jackson... So, hopefully he'll fluke The Hobbit too.
Harriet Reed
They should have left that trilogy well alone....Why can't a good book just be a good book without having to be a movie?!!!
