this guy told me that that their was once a murderer that killed people on xmas and slashed (or clawed) his victims to death. he killed a bunch of people. anyone else heard of this?

That sounds like good ol' Freddy Krueger. Freddy is known mostly for his rather evil claw-weapon thing, but he also wears a Christmas jumper. Mebbe your friend felt like making something up based on Freddy? It wouldn't be the first time.
