Parents Speak About Kids Accused Of Bus Hate Crime

Suzanne Collins BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― The Maryland Transit Administration Police say they are now investigating an assault on a city bus as a possible hate crime.

Suzanne Collins reports a group of African American students are charged with attacking a white bus rider.

The woman, Sara Kreager, 26, is suffering from two broken bones in her face, several cuts to the top of her head and cuts to her neck and back, she was released from Shock Trauma on Tuesday.

It seems Kreager boarded the 27 bus with her male friend in North Baltimore. The police report says a male student leaped into every seat she tried to occupy saying it was reserved.

Ultimately, the woman was beaten. Police have charged eight middle schools students and they are looking for a ninth suspect. Police say it was a rare violent attack on public transportation.

Police say the rear door of the bus was broken open and Kreager was dumped behind the bus.

Poor woman. I hope she gets better soon.

I hope the "children" are put into a Sheriff's boys camp out in the country somewhere where they can be straightened out before they turn into murderers.

I wounder if Jessy Jackson or the big Al will give this women a helping hand in the court room. NOT!!!

Niiiiice.... of course the little delinquents are going to tell mommy and daddy that they were 'provoked'. They don't wanna get in trouble...... Funny, though, how none of the kids were hurt, but both victims were beaten..... I would think if a knife was pulled, one of them would have gotten cut up a little bit. I'm not trying to be derogatory, but why do I see this somehow, someway, being turned around on the victims, where the kids end up being the 'victims'?? Isn't that usually what happens in these situations?? Correct me if I'm wrong.......

yeah that is weird they say a single solitary 'woman' picked a fight with upwards of 8 people. The woman was severely hurt, but no kids hurt, curious???
And thats the second time in a week that I heard of a story where kids start something then blame it on the adult they were accosting. Im really getting tired of these useless jackals.

I was trying to avoid making a possibly racist statement, but my point is that, I have a feeling that the African American leaders are going to jump all over this one, and somehow make it into a racial issue against them, instead of the truth: the black students being racist against the white couple. Is it just me, or does it seem that when something like this happens and involves the two races, somehow, someway, it's always, "We're still being oppressed, just like our ancestors were oppressed"?? I'm REALLY not trying to be racist, but the fact that the parents are immediately jumping to their children's defense, when the facts say otherwise, gives me a feeling that the 'race issue' is going to be waved around soon, and completely obscure the fact of what these kids did.

haha, i'm all for equal and civil rights. i would drive a truck with a bomb in it and blow up a kkk or skin head meeting if i could. but i can't stand jessy jackson and al sharpton. these guys are idiots. they don't help ANYTHING, just make it worst. sitting there trying to be martin luther king jr. and malcom x. if a white person even looks at a minority wrong these guys go nuts. jessy and al are punks man.

ALL city buses should be required to have cameras built in to show crimes like this and how it got started and who is at fault. Gawd! we're in the 21st century ppl!

They won't be there to help her. They might, in fact show up to support the thug kids who committed this crime. I hate to say it but everything these two guys touch turns to crap because of their "race war" mentality. They could turn these boys into victims of some kind and before you know it that woman will be in jail and traction.



And mommie always backs them up becuase even though junior had been arrested six times there've been no convictions or some crap like that.



That's just it, in high-profile cases like this is sure to become the white guy (or lady) might not get a fair shake in the eyes of the public even if they do in the eyes of the law. Sensationalism is running rampant thanks to a trigger-happy media and a news watching public quick to point a finger.

I think you missed the meaning of the comment. Rev. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton always defend African American people from preceived injustices. He was saying that they won't come to the defense of the woman who took the beating.

We're starting to see alot of these race issues close to where I live... it's also starting to involve a large Jewish community in the next town....Rabbi's are being beaten, kids going to the synagogue are being beaten, and it's being done by both blacks and whites...In New York, not to long ago, a black man was beat up in the village, was in serious condition, and this was done because he was gay.........We're not only seeing it with teens, but also with adults.....Unfortunately nowadays, it's very easy to call a crime a race issue........And Girty is right, mom's and dad's will very rarely admit that there child is involved in any kind of crime....They may lose their kids friendship.......

The blacks and hispanics also get into it too,though you don't here much about it.
Hadn't heard of any whites getting beat up on a San Antonio city bus by hispanics.
Most people around here seem to get along.Heck alot of hispanics marry gringos(whites) and vice-versa around here.Hey,when the Spurs won their championships,there weren't even any riots,just a big party.

By the way teachers encounter this all the time with parents.Oh little junior NEVER does anything wrong,doesn't matter the race of the kid,alot of parents are like that.
These kids have no discipline or anything else of structure in their lives.Bet some of these kids don't even know who their real daddy is.

No, I didn't. I meant that it works both ways and that no one, whether white, black or purple should be harassed because of their race. I understand that Al Sharpton wants there to be constant trouble. I don't understand why he does it, but he does. And so that no one called me down for anything, that is why I said no one of any race should be harassed.

I agree. I don't like hearing about racism. We need more ways to teach diversity to not only our children but to adults as well.

You hear about hate crimes all the time that aren't specified to what color the victim or victimizer is. These bad people happen to be Black and the innocent victim White. I don't feel only Whites are singled out as the people who are the racists, that's ridiculous. These kids are hideous but that doesn't necessarily mean they don't know who their father is, why would that be an issue to bring up? I am tired of our species not willing to evolve and get rid of the racism and discrimination crap that is keeping us down. How many hundreds of years went by before a torture lynching didnt get swept under the mat or if it did come to trial the murderers aquitted? See, not much has changed. I just hate these things, it makes me sad for us as humans.

I find that kids don't notice the diversity until it is pointed out to them by an adult. My daughter told me that she made a friend. That's it a friend, her DAD interrupted her to say she was a Native girl in a slightly derogatory manner. I pulled him aside and told him there was no reason for that. It scares me because he has said some racist things in front of her, and that is not the way I am raising her to be. There is absolutely no need for it.

I agree that a child will play with another child of a different race and not notice what color they are...That's the innocence of children..My son (who is in his early 30's) grew up with a black boy, best of friends, still are....This kid, ate at our house, slept at our house and went on vacations with us....As children they never saw any difference in each other, they were friends....As far as Jackson, and Sharpton, they only add fuel to the fire, and I'm putting Bill Cosby in there too....As much as we go round and round, I don't see it getting any better.........

I already said this a few times here, but I hate Sharpton and Jackson! Everybody in my family thinks they hate Latinos(which I am) too.

I agree. He tries to keep the African Americans out of jail. Especially when they cause it. Whatever happen to when you do something wrong. You go to jail?!

A year or two years ago. There was a state election, a guy named Pipkin was running. Someone spray painted a truck. With Nazi signs, it was saying if you vote for Pipkin you're a nazi. >< Luckily, the guy got locked up.
