Hong Kong - China’s worst fuel crunch in years has led a crematorium to dump half-burnt corpses to try saving on diesel costs.

Villagers in Hengyang county, discovered the practice when an “unbearable stench” started coming from the site, and tried to block a road to stop funeral vehicles from delivering more bodies.

The village sent people to investigate the smell and they saw “crematorium workers putting half-burnt human remains and organs in plastic bags and throwing them into a nearby ditch.”

“As the price of diesel rose, we saw more and more bags thrown out from the crematorium,” said a village representative and one of the witnesses.

China was hit by its worst fuel supply crisis in four years as a widening gap between low, state-regulated domestic prices and market-driven international prices forced Chinese refiners to cut output.

That's nasty. I would couldn't imagine how bad the smell was. They should have closed down if they couldn't afford the fuel.

I just don't know what to think about this... and agree it should have been shut down!

The person is dead. I don't see them giving much of a sh**.

Worm food, burnt to ash, lying in a ditch festering in the hot sun...I honestly don't see the difference.

I agree with manfred, aside from the obvious problem of the stench for those who live near by., it's pretty irrelevant.

When we die obviously we're not around to really give a damn about what happens to our bodies. However what happens to our bodies happens for the sake of our families - whether it's the satisfaction of a final goodbye, the hope that burial or cremation means we've finally gone to heaven or whatever the hell their belief is. I certainly won't give a damn what happens to my body once I'm gone, but I know my family will. When I die it no longer becomes about what I want, it becomes about what they want. And I know they wouldn't want my remains out there in a ditch.

Couldn't they save fuel on some other procedure ??????? disgust.gif

I would be pretty damn upset, if I thought a loved one was not creamated properly and just tossed in the ground in a garbage bag...Come on, how much fuel can they be saving by doing something as barbaric as this..

Well, they wanted to continue on doing their business and this is their way to cope to the problems that they are now facing. but seriously if I'm leaving near that ditch I would probably sue them by not doing their "JOB" right.

I'd rather be worm food and giving back to the earth than polluting the air and having ppl breathing in the dead remains of what maybe diseased rotting corpses.
