4. The chronicles of reddick
I love this film, interestingly enough, for it has such a funereal quality to it that I like, almost similar vibe as DUNE. Besides, Judy Dench is such a laugh riot on this one.

Devils advocate
I dont watch many films but i rememer liking all these at the time .

Underrated film, and I actually like Al Pacino in it, strange indeed. Of course, Keanu's acting adventure is always funny, in a good way. It's his charm, after all.

Nah, 40s. It's just that many films from the '50s, '40s and '30s are creaky, overly dramatic, tragically acted.

I've actually never read any Catherine Cookson nor seen any of the many adaptions of her work. I'd be interested to check it out. Are none of her adaptions available on DVD, even in the UK?

I've seen The Black Velvet Gown (very interesting film), The Black Candle, The Girl, The Cinder Path and The Secret. But, Tilly Trotter grabs me the most, and I just found out that it's available on DVD, expensive DVD box set; however, I already own two-thirds of it -- darn.
