Hard to kow Belial ....we've been married for almost 23 years and i'm not sure i could tell you what she's into. It's not that i dont care or have no interest in what she's into but women are kinda different in that way....dontcha think?
I mean if a guy is into something it's like 100% but with women they're kinda a little bit into that or this, hope that doesn't offend any women but thats my experience......she likes healty eating , Going to the Gym ....stuff like that.I've bought her every kind of exercise machine you can think of in previous Christmases ....She'll use tham for a few weeks and they'll get put into a corner forever.
We're running out of corners in the house.
She likes ABBA, Bee Gees, George Michael etc......and yes she's got all the CD's from me that she likes
thump
Depends on how much money and time ya'll have and want to spend.Yous know different folks, different strokes. Just to name a few :

Get tickets / reservations take her away on a nice cruise
Diamonds are a womans best friend
Spa massage / hair / manicure and pedicure ( some ladies like going alone )
Buy her a new car

Heck I dont know, its one of them things have to know her interests to have more of an idea what to get her...
Does she like animals.. a new puppy?
Does she like music / movies ?
A new flat screen television?
Does she collect a certain something .. like angels, bears, dolphins, etc ?
This list can go on and on......
So just depends on her interests, you know her better than anyone.

belial
How about trying to get tickets for one of those tribute band evenings, there must be loads over xmas by you? Also get her a little something for xmas morning wink2.gif
How about yourself, and a dicky bow tie, i mean: JUST YOU AND A DICKY BOW TIE...

I have the same problem year in year out too bud, lol. And yes i have no corners either in our house.

I think this is a great idea, and perhaps...if she's comfortable with the idea...include a massage in the package.

Not all women need someone to go to the "powder room" with them. wink2.gif grin2.gif

If she really wants to be surprised...send her off to the spa in a limo, and a bottle of champagne for the trip, or drive her there yourself, then top off the day with dinner at one of her favorite places.

I would also like to suggest a custom/personalized gift basket. There are a variety of price ranges, and you can order online or perhaps a specialty store in your area could put one together for you. You could purchase a few personal things for her that you know she loves, to be placed in the basket as well, i.e., concert tickets, etc.

That would show her that you put a lot of thought into her gift, and that's what women like. It would appear that you do that already. thumbsup.gif

Good luck!

My partners only 2 years younger then yours and i always struggle. I hit jackpot the other day though when i heard her talking to her mum and saying that since she was a child she's always wanted to see the ballet. I had no idea that she was even remotely interested in ballet. So that's one of her presents sorted.

Drop a few little questions about things you always wanted to do but never get round to...you might pick up a few ideas you never thought of.

Some good ideas here..To me a gift that may only last a day, night or a weekend is one to be cherished....More so that receiviing a gift that might be shelved...I'm not sure exactly where you live, but are there any island hops for weekends by you..Here in the States they sometimes run a two day trip to Bermuda or the Bahama's, just as a get away to relax......Or the idea of a day at the spa is good, then if there's a bed & breakfast by you, you and your freshly sparkling missus can spend the night........Good for you, looking for suggestions.......Alot of men would just buy a vacuum cleaner and be done with it.... laugh.gif

what about a trip to lapland, if you have any kids take them with ya, or if not take family members, see the northern lights and all stay there for two days it will be like the scene off ya christmas cards, reindeer sh** loads of snow, toboggan rides, Husky dog ride, Reindeer ride, and then fly back home? it will be a crimbo to remember plus, memories last a life time unlike christmas presents which if lucky last 6 weeks, blink.gif

good luck any way mate with what ever you decide to do,

Jewelry can be dicey.. however, there are certain ways you can avoid getting ripped off.

Honestly, someone mentioned Tiffany's. Contrary to popular belief, Tiffany's doesn't have to be that expensive. They are one of the few fine jewelry stores that carries a large line of sterling silver. It's all conservative and elegant. You can't go wrong. My only caution is to buy Tiffany's FROM Tiffany's... don't buy from any other seller, it's likely to be a fake.

Movado Jewelry (or watches) is another where you simply can't go wrong. They have some affordable price points, as well as good quality. I've also found that the Movado sales staff are really good at helping you to select something that's right. Don't fear asking sales people for help. Movado will run a minimum of $300 and if that's too much, take a look at their "casual" watch brand, ESQ sold in most department stores. In my opinion (I'm a watch hound) ESQ and Movado are the same quality. Coach watches are also made by Movado.

Rings are tough, I'd say avoid them unless you really know what you're looking for and looking at OR you fully trust the seller. However, you can't go wrong with an elegant single Akoya pearl pendant. Peek in her jewelry box and see if she wears white gold or yellow gold more often. You'll find a single Akoya to be quite affordable. Akoya pearl earrings are nice too, elegant, acceptable for daily wear, and affordable. Avoid freshwater pearls.

If you don't mind shopping online, I happen to know that BlueNile.com is fantastic. They carry a lot of diamonds, but this time of year they offer gifts and non-bridal jewelry. Their customer services is excellent, their reputation is fantastic, their quality is guarenteed. They are also quite affordable. They offer a consulting service over the phone, I recommend using it. Unlike most jewelry stores, their sales/consulting staff is not on commission. Their web site is written specifically for men, who have no idea what to get their gals. They're really unique.

If you would like to get jewelry, but don't trust yourself, that's one way to do it without getting burned and the liklihood that you'll get something she hates is slim.

If you're looking for a colored stone, right now, nothing is more popular than Prasolite or Green Amethyst (same thing) and since it's a semi-precious, you won't run into any lab created, or veneered crap which is something you have to be careful of when buying gemstone jewelry.

Well this is sort of a different idea and of course, I don't know that your wife would like it, but last year after the hundreth time of telling my husband to surprise me, he did.
The weekend before Christmas, he brought home the list of a little girl from the "Giving Tree"

(In case this isn't a widespread thing, I'll explain. In our local mall there is a Christmas tree decorated with the names of underprivilidged children, most of them live in foster homes or in the state's care. The children write a list of what they would like to have for Christmas and people pick a name from the tree, fill the list and drop the wrapped gifts off at whichever company is sponsoring the tree. The company then delivers the presents to each child.)

His present to me was that we would spend the whole day together, shoppping (he hates to shop) for this little girl's Christmas presents. It was wonderful!!! We had such a great time, just the two of us and we got to give something to someone who needed it.
Kinda makes you feel good!!!
Best present I ever got anyway.

You know that's funny you should bring this up because last Christmas this is what my Family did, a week before i was listening to our local radio station and they were talking about about some Families here where i live (which is small compared to other Florida cities) and of course you can't help but get that butterfly, don't make me cry feeling in your stomach when it comer's to children not having presents for Christmas, so i decided to go home and get the little guy's together (all 3) and my Wife and see how they felt about spending half our Christmas money on a Family who had nothing, so we all came to the understanding that giving is better then receiving, and we ended up helping (3) Families and spent a little more then expected, the rules of the giving part was you were not told who it was you were buying for and that was understandable, but, remember this is a small town and its not that hard to figure out who they were, what we did was give our little one's a hundred dollars a piece and went to Wally world and told them to buy stuff they wanted and in turn it would be up to date things, we did the same thing in a couple of different places and it turned out pretty good.
About a week after Christmas one of the guys from the radio station called me up and said he video taped one of the Families that we had bought stuff for
and asked if i wanted to see there reaction which of course was against the rules but the Family did not mind so i told him to come over that night so we all could watch and would you believe while i was watching i recognized the the Father right away as the man who Helped my Family move into our new house about a year prior, we had just pulled in with our moving trucks and it would have been an all day job but he even called his family to help and they all came over and pitched in which took a couple of hours instead of all day, after all was said and done i offered him some money but he refused and i told them all thank you so much and never seen them again....
It turns out they moved a county away because they had a big House fire and lost everything. Its funny how things happen and come full circle.

How about nothing at all. Just because its a holiday doesn't mean you have to give anyone a gift. You give gifts when you feel into the mood not because its a holiday and the stores want you business. Thats why we have holidays so that the stores can sell you something.
Lt_Ripley
the last 2 gifts I gave to my brother and his wife for thier anniversary might help you out -

1.a romantic champagne hot air ballon ride and 2. a dinner train. you can find them 2-6 hours or so or book a weekend trip ( get a compartment )

my brother wasn't the greatest on ideas ( he's better now) and he enjoyed both ! So did his wife. they have been married 19 years. My brother has even become more of a romantic kinda guy bringing her home flowers ect.... for no reason.

No, seriously, though, I think I'm lucky in that my wife has definite interests. She's got a horse, she loves to read, she loves Ultimate fighting, and she's a witch. So the typical girly-girl stuff isn't in order, instead she likes fight clothes with the Team Punishment logo, panties with the Tapout logo, and herbs to plant and harvest. Stuff like that. it must be tough for you guys who's wives like typical woman things. I wouldn't know what to get either.

although, whenever someone asks what I got her for christmas or the solstice, they think I'm nuts and a horrible husband.

here, get her this:

Pulled away from my usual department, I am now a "gift advisor" in David Jones. And, according to my job description, thats the kind of thing that I am ment to advise you on...but all we are told to say is to get perfume, some nice books, perfume, jewellry, clothes etc. Which is silly because it is so generic. So I guess that the moral of this little story is not to trust Gift Advisors.

Actually, here is an idea. Why don't you buy her a really good quality pillow? One of the latex or memory foam ones? That way it is unusual (so not cliched), and yet she will get alot of use out of it etc.

And then you can put chocolates on top of the pillow for presentation... tongue.gif

No matter who your wife is something that makes her feel pretty is an exceptional gift. My suggestion to all of the brave husbands out there is Lingerie, yes. Sexy, pretty undergarments.

Not overly naughty mind, but tasteful and sexy. It's a twofa. A present for her and a present for you. Of course if you are worried about buying it yourself then a voucher is actually aceptable.

What about a new hobby? Try something the two of you can do together, then make an effort to get out and do it with her. What about kayaks/tandem kayaks? Bikes? Skis? Something active. I suppose it depends on what is available where you live.

Another great gift is a vacation. If she works, arrange it with her boss and book flights or rooms in advance for a fun trip. Even if it's just a weekend getaway to a romantic cabin in the mountains. Someone mentioned a spa certificate, that's also a great gift idea!

You could always get her a new camera or a gigantic beautiful lens, who wouldn't want that?!? whistling2.gif
