ive gotten banned from *snip for "hacking" the arcade. i had about 9 trophies, while everybody had like 2 or 3. so they thought i hacked, and i was talking back to like every admin and mod there because they were saying i hacked, when i was saying i dont know how to hack. then next week i think, they bann me (this was in the year 05) from whatever that day was, i cant remember, till may 14, 1989. =/

but then the website got hacked, not by me but someone else, it gets hacked a lot, but that time for somereason, everyone that was banned, got to come back. so im still there, but they took out the arcade since.

Mmm that was bad luck on your part if, indeed you didn't hack the Site

Personally, I have never been banned from a Site, I wouldn't want to either. The only Sites I go on are those that I really enjoy and if I got banned I would get upset.

^ already did that, and i told them, i lold at there face, and they didnt really care, so i asked them why the hell they banned me in the first place, they just ignor me. lulz.

My first instinct would be to close this thread as the topic could get ugly, bad-mouthing other forums and mentioning them by name isn't a good idea. We're only getting one side of the story, and it might inspire others to mis-behave to 'get back' at those forums they perceive to be in the wrong. The only way this will be allowed to continue is if contributors discuss only the events that may have led to their 'bannishment' and no mention is made of the forum it occured at. I've not been banned from any boards or forums though in my branching-out days I'm told I came close at one. Come to think of it I've never had a warning at any site, let alone the site where I rode the edge.

My husband, on the other hand has been banned from a few including his own and lost titles and priviledges for unfashionable behavior.

I had the privilege to interview my husband recently on the subject, he says that he regrets only one thing. He was too nice.

I have, but then I just got a new account and started with a clean slate. Live and learn. No comment on the site though (could be UM for all you know ).

I think the mods would know..... IP's and all.....

I was temp. banned on one board because of a dispute with the owner and one of his buddies. The buddy kept harrassing me and I kept telling the owner to do something about out it. I was banned for about a week and then was given a mod postion and the ability to block the admin that was bothering me.

I'm proud to say, that in my 20+ years online I've never been banned. 'Bout the closest I came was on a chat service where I actually was paid to moderate. We had one mentally unbalanced moderator who "gagged" me in a chat room because she was ... I dunno, well, crazy is the only word I can come up with.

On the flip side of the coin, I've run no fewer than 6 IRC based chatrooms, and I've been known to ban first, ask questions later. My rules were clear, when they were violated, I had a pretty quick trigger finger. Users could take it up with me in e-mail if they wanted to. I rarely banned for longer than a day or two though. Really just enough time to allow them to cool off or re-evaluate their behavior.

Mostly, moderating anything is a thankless and unfun job. LOL. I usually treat those that moderate forums and chat rooms nicely because I've been there and done that.

So just planting that seed of doubt in our minds for fun?....

I'd be upset if I got banned from a site for being rude to someone. I might not always agree but it doesn't hurt to disagree with someone politely.

I was banned by a site (no names).

It was the rudest, ugliest, back-stabbing online experience of my life. It was the first site I ever belonged to... this is the second. I love it here. I love the people and the Mod's/Admin are fair and just.

I just "throw away" that first site because it wasn't ANYTHING compared to UM.

Theres this place called -Snip- and im banned for 7699 years,If im alive and still interested in the site I wont mind posting again.

I think I got close to being banned on -Snip- because me and a few other treated the place like a chat room, which was bad on my part and I feel terrible for it but they were the good old days. Now I vow never to spam up that place just this one HURRAY!!!!...just joking I would never do that to this place...please don't hurt me mods .

I was banned from a site for telling off some pregnant smokers. I just think it's horrible to subject your unborn baby to smoke, no matter what the circumstances.

I got banned from a paranormal site I used to frequent, as I was on one side of a massive political argument with the admin. Looking back at it, it was mostly my fault, I should have kept my mouth shut, but I don't regret it one bit. Being kicked off of that site made a lot of differences in my life, as I finally looked around and asked myself what the heck I was doing on the internet 24/7.
