Police: Man Used Hot Sauce, Live Snake To Abuse 2-Year-Old

POSTED: 11:13 am EST December 14, 2007
UPDATED: 12:58 pm EST December 14, 2007

SOMERSET, Pa. -- Police said a Somerset County man draped a live snake around his 2-year-old son's neck, fed him hot sauce, and otherwise abused him for nearly a year.

Jason Flick, 27, of Somerset, is charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children and related charges. He was arrested Friday.

Authorities began investigating Flick when his son was taken to Somerset Hospital on Sept. 30 with a skull fracture and broken leg. Police said Flick told them the boy fell at his home in a housing complex on Village Way. But doctors determined that the boy's injuries weren't consistent with a fall

Police said the boy's abuse included being shot with an air "soft gun" that caused welts, being struck so hard that he lost his breath and having beer put in his "sippy cup."

The boy, whose injuries appeared to be life-threatening, was then flown from Somerset Hospital to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Flick is also accused of striking the child in the back of the head with a metal toy handgun with such force that the child was knocked to the ground.

And they are investigating the 19 year old mother? I wouldn't doubt she was abused, too.

I wonder where this "mother of the year" was all the time the poor baby was being abused...When I was a kid, my mom and I used to pass a mental institution and it scared the hell out of me...I'll always remember what she said....Don't be afraid of those who are locked on the inside, worry about the ones on the outside.....Reading sad stories reminds me of that...This man is one very sick person, and should rot in hell.....Prayers to baby boy....

nooo - don't shoot him. that's too easy. once he ends up in the general population of a federal penetentiray & the other inmates find out what he did - he will face worse than being shot. even most of the hardest criminals out there don't think too much of folks that abuse children no.gif .

- or -

give stixx 5 min. with him thumbsup.gif.

Just take him out back and put a 357 hollow point in the back of his head. Dig a hole, dump him in it...end of story.

again, a bullet to the dome is just too simple, fast & painless. i would rather the "lifer's" in the pen show him what being abused is like. after a few years of that, he'll probably kill himself in jail anyway.
Stixxman
yeah convicts have a special place in their hearts for abusers of heplless children. Believe me the gaurds will waste no time telling the other inmates what this tough guy was sent up for.

What difference does it make? Dead is dead and I want dead for the best price I can find it. One bullet is the least expensive way to get the dude dead.
Stixxman
yeah i kinda like the idea of this guy having to endure continuous reeming but i also don't like my money being used to house and feed and eventually release this walking turd, a bullet seems more tax effective.

poetic justice

A woman will tell you revenge is easy, and that men seldom have the stomach for justice.

That's the thing, he WON'T rot in jail for the rest of his life.. He might be sentenced to 2-3 years, but then he be let out on early release(probably 1 year)due to his "exemplary behavior", the government paid classes he took, or the fact that's he "found" Jesus during his bit in jail.

And the mother.... she's a weak minded, spineless, POS. If that were my child, he would have recieved a skull fracture of his own by way of "cast iron skillet" while he slept.

err, I mean, I would call the police and let the justice system deal with him.

Actually, a true story here: A woman I knew found her common-law husband raping her son. She got a gun and shot him. And shot him more times as he plead for his life. She was charged, but did not go to jail. It was argued that she was doing her job, saving her son. Now, not every woman is going to have the guts to do something like this, especially if she is abused and beaten down by the guy. There is a different mind set in a lot of abused women. Most will be terrified to leave because the guy will threaten her life/safety and that of the child(ren) and/or her family. It takes a strong woman to break away and take the chance that he will come after her (the police can do diddly squat unless her hurts her after they issue a peace bond/ restraining order) I am not saying that this mom did the right thing by not leaving, but we never know what is going on behinds closed doors.
