Someone recently replied this to me in an email

After all, 16 years clean from an addiction that almost took me outta here, two State bids and a lifetime later, I've earned the right to stand for something.

I don't want to ask her what "two State bids" means. I'm assuming its plea bids but someone else told me it means time served?

Anyone know?
