Xbox360 for me personally. I got it because of Halo3, Halo Wars, GOW, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed(I know its on other consoles also), Possibly another KotOR(Chances are slim, but I look forward to it), and the price, $700 for a PS3 is too much for me. Well that my 2 cents.

I got the ps 3 recently, 1:because it has a blue ray player,2:because resident evil 5 will definitly be on the ps3.I have always been a huge fan of this series of games.I have a wii as well, and the cool thing about that is you can dl all the old sega games which still rock in my opinion.I don't see anything wrong with the 360, but I just ended up buying the ps3 instead.Besides all the stores including blockbuster are all going blue ray, and there is just going to be a larger market and more stores selling blue ray products.Hopefully now the price will come down on some of these items.

I just recently purchased a PS3 after selling my XBOX. The 360 had its best year in 2007 with all the good exclusives. IMO, PS3 is the future of gaming right now. It still has its best years ahead of it and I don't see XBOX competing for much longer unless they put out a new system. 360 isn't a bad system but it does have some faulty hardware that has hurt it. I love XBL and for the money it is worth it, but the games out now and coming out in the future is why I switched back to Sony. I'm more of a RPG/TPS/Sports gamer and all XBOX has is 400 FPS games.

I currently have the PS 3, and I agree with DK, the best days of the PS 3 have yet to come. The current games don't allways live up to what the PS 3 engine is capable of delivering, so eventhough the current games look fabulous and are awesome allready, it can only get better. I play GTA, WWE: Smackdown vs. RAW, Assasins Creed and Kane & Lynch type of games.

I actually have all 3. (Yeah I know, it is rather ridiculous). I really cannot say any system is better than the other because they all serve a different purpose for me.
The 360 has the most games but to me the system is a tad obsolete. No built in wifi, no web browser, and of course no blu-ray. But if you enjoy games with good graphics and a HUGE game selection, this is your system.
My PS3 is used mostly for blu-rays. I have never seen a movie so crisp and clean until I watched it on a blu-ray. Right now the movie selection is quite small but that will improve.
Up until GTA IV, there was no must have game for the PS3. (I would have bought that for the 360 but Best Buy only had PS3 in stock). The game selection is quite crappy but it is a more powerful machine so hopefully the library will continue to grow.
Wii to me is to have dumb fun. If I want to play a game that ends quickly, or if I just do feel like hopping on the couch.

Get 360, ps3 is still relatively new, has lots of bugs to sort out.
360 has great selection of games, most games coming out will be 3rd party which means they will be out on both consoles, and anyway, 360 is cheaper and quieter.
You'll enjoy 360, its an awesome console, i know from personal experience.

Good luck in your choice.

Bugs...BUGS...the only bugs around here are the ones in your pants...ps3 has no bugs..i have one, its the best especially online! the only fault id say is the game line up but its still in its fetal days...360 has been out longer so thus having a better line up...i must admit some games i wish i had a 360 to play, but nether the less i still stand proud of my system and its as fluid as the water from your rusty old taps!lol..no honest no problems the only thing i can think of was wen they realesd firmware 2;40..i have 2:41 and works like a prossie from the red light district!
i must admit i will slit my wrists if that star ocean dont come out...dopnt say no it wont or they said its exclusive...ive all ready done my research all i can do now is hope and pray they make the write decision otherwise it will be the biggest mistake of there lives considering ps has a bigger fan base of that series!

I purchased a PS3 in late February, primarily because I liked what it offered — a game player *and* Blu-ray 1080p player in a single package. It cost me $499, and I haven't regretted the purchase. I understand that Sony is bringing back the 80GB PS3 this fall, and will sell it for $399 — $100 less than what I paid for my 80GB machine.

No, it's not. The Cell is theoretically better than the triple-core CPU in the 360, but as the Cell is a nightmare to program for, it evens out. The Cell is great for number crunching and scientific purposes, but it's debatable if it's good for running games. Also, the GPU in the PS3 is slightly weaker than the GPU in the 360 IIRC. Both consoles are capable of doing pretty much the same things, but the 360 is undeniably easier to write code for, as it's basically just a gimped PC whereas the PS3 has a confusing architechture.
BD discs have 50 GB (dual layer discs) or 25 GB (single layer discs), not 60 GB. And DL DVDs on the 360 actually only have 8.5 GB, where, AFAIK, approx. 2 GB is reserved for some stuff Microsoft demands all 360 games have (some anti-piracy code, and a video that tells you to insert the disc into a 360 console if you insert it into a DVD player etc.). Also, the BD discs have a slower transfer rate than the peak speed of the 360 DVD drive (it's a 12X drive IIRC), which means that PS3 games have to resort to "padding" the disc to get the game to run fluently, which eats up a lot of the storage space.
So, all in all, I think the PS3 offers more value for money than the 360 does, and I think the PS3s hardware is sturdier and of a better build quality than the 360 (RROD anyone?), but the PS3 isn't some divine creation that is lightyears ahead of the 360.

PS3. You get a games console, bluray player, internet browser and multi-media hub all for £300. The value scares me. All of those bought seperately would set you back around £700. Basically if you buy a PS3, it will future proof you against all updates to bluray due to firmware updates being available.
Oh, and it also has the best line-up of games coming out of any console. EVER.

I think it really depends on what you're looking for in gaming. They're all great systems in their own right.
Wii= more family oriented/drunken party oriented (not officially for this, but I count it as being so

) It's really about the only system that just about anyone can play.
PS3= Great technology inside and by far the largest library of available games, great... and not so great.
XBOX= The best one for online multiplayer. Xbox live has proven time and time again to be the best online server over all 3 systems. While their selection of truly good games isn't nearly as large as the PS3, they do still provide plenty of entertainment.
But Bender, not trying to start a war or anything, but IMO the only game in that list that I really would care to make an effort to play is Final Fantasy. Might be because I haven't heard of a few of those you listed, or the fact that Franchises have gotten pretty old with me, but that's just me. (Yes, I know FF is a franchise, but they've been putting out great games time and time again.)

FYI Final Fantasy 13 is going to be on the XBOX 360 too. At the moment Sony only has the exclusive for FF13 spinoff games but seeing as how the main game is going to be on both consoles I don't see why they wouldn't do the same with the spinoffs. FF spinoff games are rarely ever any good anyways.

The Sony Press conference was not the best ever and I'm the first to admit that, but then again, all 3 of the major players (Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo (the worst showing)) didn't exactly have brilliant ones either. I'd say out of the 3 Sony had the best, as they showed us a few new games that look really interesting, for example MAG, which is a FPS with 256 players online, which -if they can pull it off- will be fantastic.
See, the problem with people like you is that you slag MGS4 off having not even played the game for an extensive period of time, you only comment by what you learn from others, which is often very bias. You can skip the cutscens if you want in MGS4, but they are integral to the story and that is what I like in a game - a good story. MGS4 is the best game I and many others have ever played and it was reason enough for my cousin to purchase a PS3 due to that one game.
The PS3 has been outselling the Xbox 360 for the whole of the year bar the previous two week. The only reason the 360 won the two previous weeks is the short term effect of the pricecut and the shortages of PS3s as Sony looks to put out its new 80gb SKU whilst drying up stock of the 40gb, meaning that very little PS3s were on the market in America. In a week or two when supply is returned, the PS3 will once again begin outselling the Xbox 360.
You honestly don't think that Gran Turismo 5, Killzone 2, MAG, the Ico project and FF versus won't be any good? Well, I've got news for you. The previews done on Killzone 2 and GT 5 are EXTREMELY positive so far and I wouldn't be surprised if the other games get positive press too, because they are being developed by teams with a proven track record. The PS3 has the superior lineup of games coming out compared to the Wii and 360 over the next year.
Finally, the PS3 is by far the best value out of the 3 consoles. I've said this before but to purchase everything the PS3 gives you seperately would set you back around £700, whereas the PS3 gives it all to you for £300.

The lists are subjective. One can easily point to Fable, Gears 2, the Halo projects, and so for on the Xbox 360. Most of the big franchise games are cross platform and exclusive shooters don't even really count because there is an alternative on the other console Gears/Resistance for example.
The 'best value' is relative to each person. I don't have a HDTV and neither do most people...so the whole HD blue ray thing is often times not a concern. Most people just use it to play games...all the multimedia crap on consoles is better fit for your computer.

You are misinformed. Most Bluray players are compatible with ordinary DVD's, therefore you don't need to rebuy your movie collection. You don't just buy a PS3 for Bluray, you buy it for Bluray AND all the other features which currently, no other machine can match for price, value and functionality.

No, I'm not misinformed. I am well aware that all Bluray players (not most) can play regular DVDs. However, I would still want to replace most if not all of my movies eventually because frankly, upconverting sucks. Bluray is often considered a major selling point for the PS3 which is why I mentioned it. I am well aware it is not the only one. None of the other features interest me either. Few games are specific to that console and those that are are not interesting to me. Therefore, it is still a waste of money to me.

Xbox 360 is the dominant gaming system. It costs less then the ps3 and has more games, faster release dates, just as good graphics, and Xbox Live. The PSN cannot even hope to compete with the 360. As for the selling, the 360 has been out for what? 1-2 years longer than the PS3. Every hardcore Xbox player has already bought theirs long before the PS3 even came out. OF COURSE it's going to be outselling the 360 in week by week basis...

For me, buyng a PS3 for a Bluray player would be a waste of money.
If you're willing to use your computer as your blu-ray player, you can buy a drive for around 100-150 right now. Not hard to install either.

PS3.
it doesnt crash like the 360
Microsoft must be kicking themselves for that flop
I've owned my 360 for about 3 years now and have never had a problem with it. They fixed the crash problem a LONG time ago.
Seriously, this is like the Xbox Gen1 vs the PS2 all over again, but roles are switched. Instead of Xbox having to boast about how powerful a system it is, PS3 seems to need to keep boasting it's hardware...
Oh, and about MGS4 being the reason your cousin bought a PS3... If you were to give me every game on that list of yours I STILL wouldn't buy it.

PSN pulling off 256 players in one match... I think you need to wake up from your dream man.
256 can be done.... I've played modded games that support like 160 players back in the day.

Not every computer can run 1080i or 1080p along with a new blu-ray player. Other hardware is needed like an HD ready video card which will run you another few hundred as well as a good monitor to watch stuff on.
Also I haven't found a PC blu-ray player for under $279 and for this price you may as well pay a little more and go for a blu-ray burner.
Blu-ray won't go down to much in price till at least next year.
For what it's worth the PS3 as well as being a pimped VG system is also a blu-ray player and one hell of a deal.... Cheaper then spending a grand or 2 on a new computer just to watch movies.

In regards to graphics PS3 by far is superior to the 360, games like MGS4 look way better then anything on 360 which has IMO hit it's graphical peak. Things like advanced in game physics are simply not there with 360.
Don't get me wrong I love the 360 it's still an outstanding machine I just know it's no where near PS3 in regards to it's capabilities... Although 360 has a way better online setup.

Okay the PS3 is a cheap blu ray player.....but for the majority of people who do not have HDTVs this feature goes more or less unused.
The graphics difference between the two is so small that it is barely noticeable. Only exclusive games will actually use the PS3 to its full capability...cross platform games come out looking more or less the same (as in GTA, Madden, COD4 etc.) Look at the PS2 and XBox 1...the small graphics differences didn't give Microsoft the upper hand, everything on that console was mostly crap except for Halo and KOTOR.
Are people still pretending that MGS4 isn't going to be ported to the 360 one day?

Why are all u guys considering buying the Wii to be out of question? It's still a pretty damn good console and is much more interactive than both the PS3 and the 360. It really depends upon the kind of gaming that you would like. The Wii supports highly interactive games, thus its library doesn't have a lot of action games and stuff, and its graphics are significantly weaker than the PS3 and the XBox 360.
IMO, I would choose between the Wii and the PS3 as the XBox 360 has been around for too long compared to them.

I have both a PS3 and an XBOX 360 Elite. I love the PS3 for the blu-ray, which lately I only seem to use the console to watch movies. I love the 360 because you can modify it to play bootleg 360 games. $5 a game versus $50-$60.......Can't do that with a PS3

there's no competition,,,ps3 everytime!
have you seen the lineup for the coming 6 months!!!!!!
it's insane!
and another thing is,,,
i think the xbox has reached the limit of what it can do whereas the ps3 is still improving.
key word:6 months
Its always about games coming out later on,Games coming out next year,Games that will be here soon. For the love of god when will these alleged "ps3 selling games" arrive? Its always "08 is the year of the ps3",When you say the "good" games will come out at some point and you never have an official release date.(BTW nobody cares about release dates for games that NOBODY will want to play,Half of the games listed in these lists of games people have said are better than the 360's game library are 3rd party crap)I dont have a clue how anybody can take somthing like that seriously.

Wow, lots of PS3 and XBox lovers. I Love my Wii though, not a day goes by that I regret getting it. I love the wireless options, the interaction and the games are pretty darned awesome (Zelda of course rocks) It really is a good system. My 4 & 5 year olds love Wii Fit and Big Brain Academy, though I limit them to only an hour a week playing.

Hideo Kojima owns the MGS IP IIRC, and Kojima haet Microsoft, so no, I don't think MGS4 will ever be released on the 360. Besides, it wouldn't surprise me if Sony gave both Kojima and Konami moneyhats to ensure that MGS4 would never be ported.

1. The console just doesn't appeal to me, and it has no exclusive games I feel are must-have games.
2. I hate Nintendo and their first-party games.

My 360 died, used my PS3 for a while, then I got my 360 repaired and it works absolutely fine. I haven't had any problems with it since I got it fixed in Feb and have more fun with it now than I did using my PS3 for a few weeks...
