All members please disregard the comments of this poster, he hold's a personal grudge against myself for firstly preferring the Wii and 360 over his beloved PS3 and secondly for having to constantly take action aginst him for constant rule breaches. I have nothing against the PS3 and would gladly purchase one if I had the money and it's future exclusives were already released. I owned a PS2 and had over 20 games on that system which I loved, its simply the cost down here in Australia which is far too prohibitive for me personally. The "base" model is still $700 and doesn`t include backwards compatibility with PS2 games.

On another note Ashigaru are you aware the PS3 has been outselling the 360 on a weekly basis worldwide for months now and is starting to outsell the 360 in the US although whether that trend also continue's will be interesting. Look Ashigaru all those who proclaimed the PS3 was dead were incorrect, and I am personally happy to see this, as I want all three consoles to sell well. The 360 while now being outsold wordwide weekly by both the Wii and PS3 is still selling extremly well and will easily surpass the original X-Box's sales. The Wii is smashing records in all region's and the PS3 could be making one of the greatest comeback's in video-game history. It's simply a great time to be a gamer, as the more competitive the market the better off consumers are.

Ashigaru, if you can't contribute to topics on games consoles without resorting to obscene language and flaming then you won't be given the opportunity to do so again in future. You've already been warned about this multiple times, enough please.

I still think you should base a good chunk of your decision on what to buy based upon what your friends have and what games you like. The ps3 has blu ray, which is great, but if you don't have a high def tv or aren't going to watch blu ray movies then you mind as well spend less and get the 360. Are you going to play online? 360 has much better online. I do not have a ps3, but i have put maybe 100 hours into one playing it over my brother in laws and friends house, I've got to say that i still enjoy the games on the 360 better, but for a cheap blu ray player you can't beat the ps3, and there are better games coming out for it soon. I would say neither console has even touched what it can do in terms of power. if you can't decide, just build yourself a nice pc rig if you have the money

I'm stating facts. The PS3 has been outselling the 360 globally for the last 4 months. It is selling quicker than the 360 did at the same point in it's lifetime, whereas the 360 had no competition for the first year. The consumers like the PS3 more than the 360, therefore I will take their opinions over yours.

Personally, I prefer the 360. The catalogue of games for the PS3 just don't appeal to me on a whole since all the multi-platform titles I eyed for the PS3 are available on the 360. Though, some of the games for the PS3 have caught my attention, like Metal Gear Solid. But ultimately, I prefer the 360 between the two. However, I really hate the Red Ring of Death. I thought waiting a year would be a good decision in that it would mean some of the 360's bugs would have been worked out, but I guess I should've waited another year. I'll pick up a PS3 when the next model comes out, though, which I hear will also be a PS3-slim. But don't bet on it.

Also, I would consider Blu-Ray as one of the reasons why the PS3 is growing in popularity.

The way i see it the game console 'arms race' is going to go on indefinitely. I'm content with just my computer for the time being...

the ps3 is far superior and looks cool in black, would of prefered the silver one though if i was surrounded by free xboxs and i saw a ps3 in a crocodile pit surrounded by crocs and then when i got to the island where the ps3 was surrounded by land mines i would be planning my way to the ps3.
How i would do this is buy throwing the xboxes at the crocs and then at the land mines, and then i would obtain my ps3 and i would be loving it.

Yea don't wanna be too loud. What annoys me is when they say the ps3 has no good games. What console are they looking at lol. Last I checked we have Uncharted.Resistance,Warhawk,Metal Gear 4,Ratchet and Clank. Our library may not be as huge but a good majority of the 360's game are crap. Plus we have more heavy hitters coming up like Resistance 2,Final Fantasy 13 and *drum roll* God of War 3. Also we don't have a a rrod unlike a certain console I won't name. Wow, there's some serious loving of the PS3 going on here which is quite the change from last year. I`ll personally enjoy the different game's and gaming experiences on offer from all three consoles. I only need to get a PS3 now to have all three and will hopefully pick one up sometime in 09 for God of War 3 and FF, while also enjoying the vast games library that should be in place by then.

It's funny and sad how some people prescribe to the 'console war' mentality. I like games, so I play games. It doesn't make a difference what console that game happens to be on. It's just too bad that I happen to find the PS3 library limited and lacking in games I'd like to play. But if anyone feels they can dictate their opinion on what a good game is to me, I'll gladly laugh with them all the way to the store and tell everyone how funny they are. To me, most games today suck, but the 360 has a large enough library of both exclusive and multi-platform titles for me to enjoy. You're not a saint just for owning a PS3 anymore than owning any other console. But hey, if the thought of people playing their games on another platform gets their blood boiling, then they clearly have some issues that need to be cleared up.

Don't worry Xbox owners, the load times are rarely more than 30 seconds and don't occur very often. The slight visual edge goes to PS3, but the 360 is no slouch. Either version will do you proud.

I like how a slightly smoother visual picture thanks to a card that can dish out slightly better aa makes it worth the extra cash. Don't mind that many people find it lacking in games and thus only useful as a first-generation Blu-Ray player. What a wonderful trend the gaming industry is taking for the fanboys. The age when graphics > gameplay is here, without a doubt. It's also the age that people think more money = better games. Tell that to the guys who made Sins of a Solar Empire and GalCiv (2). Shoot, I remember the day when all you needed to make a game which topped the charts was a garage and a computer.

People complaining about 30 sec load times are people who never played the original Resident Evil on the PS1 back in the day. Everytime you opened a door you were greeted by the mother of all load times.

Besides, I don't remember sitting for one minute (sometimes more) when I opened a door in Resident Evil. In fact, I don't remember that long of a load time at all, but maybe it's been a while since I've played it. What I do remember about that game, however, was the horrid, yet hilarious dialogue.

Actually, the PS1 is nearly 14 years old (released in December '94) Resi 1 had, if I remember correctly, some horrendous load times on the PS1 (but it should be noted that I haven't played the game in 8 or 9 years or so, so I might be wrong)

so i can see that stuff affecting your choice on system based on your preference of games but back on subject of 360 or ps3,

I personally find the ps3 to be the better purchase choice simply because you get everything you need in one box (aside from a game) whereas with the 360 you have to buy the system then the wireless adaptor then the rechargable batteries and docking station and also you have to buy the external HD Drive. After all that you've spent a decent amount of cash and heven forbid if you have to go to multiple stores to get all this gear for the 360 (i know its not all required but just for making the two systems about equil i bring up this factor. Also i do enjoy the arguement about it not being a big deal to chage out batteries. i agree that its not a big deal but it really does suck when you are out of batteries. Also recharging the ps3 doesnt hinder game play because all that happens is your wireless controller becomes wired for a lil while. Yes the option is also available for the 360 to continue playing while charging your controller but thats EVEN MORE money spent.)

Now discussing the drive technology. HD-DVD Vs Blu-Ray

I cant say that most people know next to nothing about either because of the noise being made about new movies being available in one of these (if not both) formats. Walking into Wal-Mart's electronics section you see many displays of HD and BluRay movies right up front so you cant miss them even if your just walking by the electronics section.

Physically i think the ps3 wins out with blu-ray because of the disc capacity. (the blu ray duel layer weighing in at an impressive 50 gigabytes while the hd-dvd dual layer only weighs in at 30 gigabytes) As for actual quality of video i cant actually say because i have not had a chance to watch an hd-dvd from the 360.

Another thing people tend to talk about is online play. From what ive seen the 360 does have great servers for gameplay but it comes at a cost (so having income from every online 360 its completely understandable for being able to have better online services) but so far ive seen that the ps3 online play is comparable especially since the cost is nothing.

A feature that i like about the PS3 is the remote play. I can use my psp (yes i know thats a substantial amount more of money for this feature) to watch movies and listen to music from my PS3 (locally or over the internet)

Also the PS3 has bluetooth connections (which is how the up to 7 wireless controllers connect where the 360 only allows 4) Also the bluetooth allows for things such as bluetooth printers and wireless headsets (such as those used with cellular phones) to be used with the ps3.

To me the previous information i listed makes the ps3 better then the 360 although currently the gaming lineup for the 360 and the graphics are better i got to say that i take the machine that has multiple uses for a decent cost over a machine that doesnt have as many uses

HD-DVD has lost. Companies are beginning to phase out their production of HD-DVD movies and stores have stopped selling them altogether. So if drive-format based on what type of movies you'll be watching in the future is your concern, go with the PS3. Remember, though, if all you want to watch is Blu-Ray, you can spend the same amount of money getting an actual Blu-Ray player, which is better, in my opinion.

Also, I hate Halo 3. The game that convinced me to buy the 360, at first, was Dead Rising. Metal Gear 4, however, has convinced me to get a PS3, but I'm going to wait until the PS3 slim comes out.
