FORT THOMAS, Ky. -- Residents in Fort Thomas, Ky., will soon be able to hunt deer on their own property, but some people are questioning whether that's safe.
After a year-long debate, city council members said they decided to let people do the hunting to curb the growing overpopulation problem.
Council members said residents wouldn’t be allowed to use guns, but could use bows and arrows.
Residents cried foul, saying they're afraid the arrows could be flying too near children and family pets.
"You know family pets getting hurt or killed -- maybe children," said Jerry Likens, a resident at the meeting.
Council members said they shared that fear. But despite the fears and objections, they voted unanimously in favor of the plan Monday.
"I've been on council for 10 years and this has been the most difficult decision we've had to make," said Eric Hass. He said they were left with no choice as the deer were causing more and more property damage and car crashes. "Certainly I have reservations this is a tough issue."
Hass said they laid out strict guidelines to try and make sure hunters only take a shot if there's no one or nothing in the way.

This is a brilliant plan, just brilliant. Now kids won't be allowed outside becuase their parents will worry about them being shot. Who is going to be walking around? I sure wouldn't! Friggin' idiot city council. There are a lot more safer ways to get rid of deer roaming the city.
