Achieving the ultimate balance.
The first law of creation speaks of the heart, soul and mind, perhaps this is the trinity of the complete human being. Proper balance between the three is required for harmony, growth and spirituality within each of us. As well as the ability to lead others. It is also the common denominator between all world religions and philosophies both eastern and western. An imbalance within these three creates a hunger deep within us, leaving us unfulfilled and wanting.
Our natural human response is to fill the gaps with whatever it is in our individual greatest strength is instead of focusing on correcting the imbalances of our weaknesses.
The heart is the physical. Those whose strengths are within the “heart” are ruled by emotion and compassion as well as positive human interactions. They listen well and have the ability of empathy and sympathy. They are the doctors, healers, nurses, musicians and personal caregivers. Their achievements and goals are measured in the form of happiness and healthiness and thrive on the gratitude of all they serve. Unbalanced by soul and mind they often appear highly emotional, spinning between exhilaration and deep depression. They lose their effectiveness on introspection and self denial.
The soul is the spiritual. Those whose strengths are within the “soul” are ruled by justice and righteousness, they always seem to comprehend the bigger picture! The soul is the eternal extension of our mortal creation; the physical world is just a stepping stone to greater achievements. They are the teachers, philosophers, lawyers, politicians and religious leaders. Truth and consequences are their personal evidence and the end always justifies the means. Unbalanced by heart and mind they often appear aloft, cold and uncaring as well as manipulating, they have no need for compassion, reason or physical evidence.
The mind is the bonding agent. Those whose strengths are within the “mind” are ruled by logic, reason and evidence. Now this one I find is the most fascinating of the three for although it is outside of the emotional level of the heart and soul. Yet it still encompasses a form of compassion and empathy. The mind is the tool of logic and reasoning the part that understands how important the creation is to the creator. As well as the part that most separates us from Him. The mind transcends the boundaries of passion and sentiment. The mind is the core element of the image of God; not a physical image but the power and ability to create or destroy and the wisdom to know the difference. It is the viable proof of the existence of free will. They are the architects, scientists and inventors, without them we would be all be living in caves contemplating our existence.
Unbalanced by heart and soul they often are cold calculating and trapped within a physical paradigm, they have no real need for spirituality or anything of esoteric value. If it can not be dissected on a laboratory bench it simply does not exist within their world.
All three aspects reflect the trinity of the Creator: The heart is the physical = The Son
The soul is the spiritual = The Holy Spirit and the mind is that that binds them all into a central being of perfection; Agape = God.
The greatest leaders in human history and development reflect also a balance of this very harmony within heart, soul and mind. It is in my opinion the greatest lesson to be learnt in this life. Avoiding the pitfall of our natural human response to fill the spaces with whatever our individual greatest strength are, instead focusing on correcting the imbalance between the three.
How do you strive to achieve this balance in your life?
To know where we are going we need to know where we are now! Our strengths are only limited by our greatest weaknesses.
