I am Christian - non denominational. I have studied bible prophecy for over 35 years. While I don't know the day of Jesus's return to this earth, I am fairly confident that it will be no later than May 14, 2018. Which also means that the time of the rule of the Antichrist, which lasts 7 years, will begin no later than May 14, 2011.
I have considered all of the date combinations, centered around Jesus's parable of the fig tree in Matthew 24.
All of them, except one, have been eliminated because we have past those dates - and nothing has happened as you have pointed out.
The one viable time frame left is May 14, 1948 + 70 years (the max length of a bible based generation in our current age) = 2018 as a no later than time frame. btw, 1948, the year that Israel became a nation again - I was borne the same year, 1948.
The time of the Antichrist will last 7 years, with the second half of which all the great tribulation events occur. Initially, the incognito Antichrist will confirm a treaty involving the Jews for 7years, Daniel 9:26-27. This same seven years is found in Revelation 12:6 (1260 days for the first half) and Revelation 12:14 (for the second half).
Please note the sequence of events.
Rev 12:6 - 1260 days a precise measurement, representing the first half. Then,
Rev 12:7-9 - Satan is cast down to earth at the mid point of the seven years. Then,
Rev 12:14 - many of the Jews living in Israel flee into the wilderness, as Satan has been cast down to earth, and seeks to destroy them. The timeframe given in Rev 12:14, is a time, times, and a half times... which is the second half of the 7 years.
Rev 12:17 - there is a remanent of Jews who don't make it out of Jerusalem in time. There they will be persecuted, until Jesus comes to their rescue in Zechariah 14.
Okay, will the current peace settlement being pushed between Israel and the Palestinians, assuming that a settlement is reached, be the beginning of that seven years? I don't know, unless it has some specific conditions regarding a 7 year stipulation blatantly spelled out - I would say "no".
My reason is that there has to be the battle of Gog/Magog, Ezekiel 38-39, an invasion of Israel by Russia, Iran, and the Arab nations first. Which basically will destroy Islam.
The Jews, with all of their enemies destroyed, will believe that they have entered the messianic age, as the Antichrist will make his appearance right after Gog/Magog. The Jews will mistakenly believe that the incognito Antichrist, the deceiver, is their messiah. In Ezekiel 39 there is a 7 year timeframe for Israel burning the remains of the Gog/Magog war machinery for fuel. IMHO that 7 years is the same seven years of the Antichrist's rule.
Sincerely,
Doug L.
Fascinating.
