..almost a mini revival. Well, not so much a revival, more like the ironing out of minor blip. British humour/comedy was known for the fact that were no "no go" areas. Disabilities, sexual or religous orientations, minorities and majorities and generally just the good, bad and ugly of society were fair game to the stand-up comic. Needless to say, after the events of the past 6 years things changed slightly, 3 or 4 years ago i couldn't find any comedians that would touch the subject of Islam, well the subject certainly wasn't being touched in any main stream media outlets and i wouldn't be surprised if the smaller comedy circiuts were the same. The only comedian who was touching the subject was Omid Djalili, it was real shame really because there is a massive amount of comedy material to be gleaned from religion. I've noticed a change recently though, even in main stream comedy, people like Patrick Kielty, Lee Mack and Frankie Boyle have all started to tackle the subject in their routines head on.

I got thinking about this after watching a rerun of a channel 4 programme on the 100 most offensive jokes, number one was the Danish cartoon of Mohammed, which they wouldn't show through fear (according to them).

This isn't a Muslim bashing post, just an example of comedy suffering and to look at the limits of comedy. Personnally i don't think any subject should be off limits, comedy should cover everything, offensive or not and i'm glad to see that minor blip is being ironed out and people are not so scared to touch any subject which they think they can make someone laugh with. That's how it should be.

I mentioned British Humour because i can't really speak for Europe, US and the rest of the planet, although i appreciate that a lot of people just don't get British humour and sarcasm. What's it like in Europe and else where at the moment, are there things that are just sensitive in your part of the world, nobody will dare touch it? should their be limits? are there subjects you think shouldn't be touched? comedy that you find just to offensive?
